[LG UltraGear Gaming Monitor] How to enable Higher Refresh Rates (120Hz and Above)

  • Troubleshooting

Higher refresh rates (such as 120Hz, 144Hz, 165Hz, 240Hz, 350Hz, 480Hz, etc.) may or may not be supported depending on the cable connection (a DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.0 or higher cable is required),
the performance of the PC (including CPU specifications and graphics card capabilities), and the user environment.

※ The refresh rate of the monitor may vary depending on the performance of the user's graphics card.

Try this

If the refresh rate is not displayed correctly on the monitor, check the refresh rate from the PC display settings and ensure that a DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.0 (or higher) cable is connected.

Checking the Input Refresh Rate (120Hz and Above)

You can check the input refresh rate from the monitor settings menu.
Press the joystick button located below the monitor screen.
From the [Main Menu], use the joystick button to select the [Settings] menu.
In the settings menu, check if the input refresh rate (120Hz and above) is displayed correctly.

Checking the Output Refresh Rate on the PC

If the refresh rate displayed on the monitor is not being applied, you can change the refresh rate from the PC display settings.
Right-click on an empty space in the PC desktop and select [Display Settings].

Right-click on an empty space in the PC desktop and select [Display Settings].

Ensure a DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.0 (or higher) cable is used

To support higher refresh rates, make sure to use a DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.0 (or higher) cable included with the monitor.

※ Issues may arise if a separately purchased cable is used.

If the input timing does not match the supported frequency, it can lead to slower screen response times or poorer image quality.
* Display Stream Compression (DSC) is a video compression algorithm developed by VESA to facilitate higher display resolutions and frame rates over existing physical interfaces.
This technology also allows for the creation of smaller, lighter devices with extended battery life.
