LG Washer - Troubleshooting Unresponsive Washer Buttons

If the control panel buttons on your LG washer are unresponsive, most problems can be resolved with troubleshooting.

Try This

  1. Ensure Control Lock is OFF

    • The CL sign, for Control Lock, is a button lock feature to prevent children from operating the washing machine.
    • If the button lock function is turned on, any button except the power button will not work.
    • The function will remain active even after the power is turned off and back on.

    How to Activate/Deactivate Control Lock

    1 Locate the special function button(s) for control lock

    2 Press and how the designated button(s) for 3 seconds until a beep is heard.

    Note
    • A beep should be heard when you press the button and another to indicate the lock function has been turned on or off. If you do not hear the initial beep try again.
    • The button(s) for control lock will vary depending on your washer model, for more information please check your ownsers manual.


  2. Check for Error Codes

    • An error code can be an indicator of a failure or malfunction with the product.
    • If an error code is displayed, please see our LG Washer – Error Codes article for further assistance.

  3. Perform a Factory Reset

    Resetting your washer can help correct most electronic issues.

    1 Power OFF the unit.

    2 Unplug the unit from the outlet or turn off the circuit breaker.

    3 While the washer remains without power, press and hold the Start/Pause button for 5 seconds.

    4 Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker.

    5 Power ON the unit and restart the wash cycle.
