If Your Front Load Washer Is Not Draining and Shows an OE Error Code

An OE (Water Outlet Error) code appears on the display when your washer cannot drain properly.

CAUTION

  • Have a container ready: Place a shallow pan or towel on the floor to catch any leftover water when you remove the filter.
  • Watch out for hot water: The water inside might still be hot. Let it cool down before you drain it.

Why Is Your Washer Not Draining Properly?

  • The drain filter may be clogged.
  • The drain hose may be pinched or kinked.
  • The drain hose may be frozen.
  • A clogged household drain may prevent the washer from draining properly.

How to Check and Restore Drainage

Case 1. Clean the Drain Filter

Opening the access cover to clean the drain filter.

Open the access cover at the bottom of the washer. Remove the drain filter and clean out any debris.

Case 2. Check the Drain Hose and Test the Drainage

  • Check the drain hose for pinched or kinked sections, and straighten the hose if necessary.
  • Remove the drain hose from the drainpipe. Run a spin cycle to check whether the washer drains properly.

Case 3. Thaw the Frozen Drain Hose and Drain Pump

If the drain hose is frozen, pour warm water into the washer tub. Wait for the drain pump to thaw.
