LG Refrigerator - Troubleshooting Ice Buildup in an LG Refrigerator

  • Troubleshooting

At a Glance

If drainage of the freezer compartment is blocked by ice or foreign objects so that the water from melted ice (frost) cannot run into the drain tray, it will run back and freeze in the bottom of the freezer compartment.

Try this

1. If you have a spare refrigerator, move your food into it.

2. Disconnect the refrigerator power plug.

3. With the doors of the freezing/refrigeration compartments wide open, ice melts in a day in the summer and in three days in the winter.

4. Once the ice has melted completely, water will run normally out to the drain tray.
