LG Washer - Troubleshooting Noises During the Spin Cycle

At a Glance

Noises during the spin cycle can be caused by laundry becoming unbalanced in the drum, foreign objects stuck in the tub, or the washer not being level.

Try This

  1. Select Your Washer Model:

    Front Load Washer

  2. Front Load Washer

    1. Rearrange laundry in the drum.

Press the [Pause] button on the washer.
If the laundry is not evenly spread and stuck to one side in the tub, this can create a pounding or rattling noise during the spin cycle.
Laundry items such as rugs, blankets, mats, and waterproof fabrics, can cause the tub to become lopsided during the spins and prolong the spin time.

    2. Adjust the size of the load.

For optimal performance, the tub should be about 2/3 of its capacity, as the laundry can move freely within the tub.

    3. Check if the washer is balanced.

During the spin cycle, the tub rotates and vibrates.
Push the washing machine forward, backwards, and sideways to see if it shakes.
If you feel shaking, adjust the legs of the washer.

    4. Check the drum for foreign objects stuck in the tub.

Remove any clothing that is inside the drum.
With the clothing removed, rotate the drum by hand to see if the noise continues. If the noise continues, the washer will require repair service.
