As the laundry is lifted and dropped during the washing process in the front load washing machine, water may be splashed onto and pool in the door gasket at front of the door.
If the washing machine has not been maintained for a long time or has been installed and used in a humid and shady environment for a prolonged period, the door gasket may be contaminated or smell as bacteria or fungus can attach to any slime that may be present.
A small amount of water may be left in the door gasket after washing, which is a normal phenomenon.
Gently wipe the door gasket area with a soft cloth after using the washing machine.
Leave the door open for an hour or two to allow the inside of the washing machine to dry.
This can allow any moisture inside to evaporate and prevent odors.
Take caution so that children do not enter the washing machine.
