LG Electronics (LG) today announced the launch of Hong Kong’s first WashCombo™ AI 2-in-1 Heat Pump Washer Dryer. Combining AI Wash™ 2.0 intelligent washing with high-efficiency HeatPump™ drying technology in a single appliance, the new model offers a generous 12 kg washing capacity and 7 kg drying capacity. Addressing four essential household needs—less space, less time, less energy and less fabric wear—it redefines the wash-and-dry experience for modern homes.

 

The front-load WashCombo™ AI 2-in-1 Heat Pump Washer Dryer overcomes the limitations of conventional laundry appliances by using AI to detect the condition of each load. It brings together an extensive range of LG fabric-care technologies, including TurboWash™ 360° rapid washing, low-temperature HeatPump™ drying, Steam+™ steam care, ezDispense automatic detergent dispensing and 6 Motion technology. Less Space: Wash and Dry in One Appliance, Saving Approximately 50% of Space While Accommodating a Large 12 kg Load

WashCombo™ AI combines washing and HeatPump™ drying in one appliance, saving approximately 50% of space compared with a conventional two-machine laundry setup. Less Time: TurboWash™ 360° Rapid Cleaning Completes Washing and Drying in 150 Minutes, Saving Approximately 38% of Time

The WashCombo™ AI 2-in-1 Heat Pump Washer Dryer features LG’s proprietary TurboWash™ 360° technology. Its inverter twin-pump system and four three-dimensional nozzles inside the drum deliver multidirectional water jets that penetrate fabric fibres rapidly and evenly, enhancing the combined cleaning action of water and detergent. During rinsing, clean water is sprayed onto the clothes while wastewater and detergent foam are drained simultaneously. This improves washing and rinsing efficiency while reducing unnecessary friction caused by prolonged tumbling.

 

The rapid washing performance of TurboWash™ 360° has been tested by Intertek. When washing a 5 kg IEC load using the TurboWash39 cycle, the appliance completed the wash cycle in as little as 39 minutes compared with a conventional Cotton TurboWash cycle.

 

When paired with the TurboWash™ + Dry cycle, the appliance can complete an entire wash-and-dry cycle in as little as 150 minutes, saving approximately 38% of time. This performance was tested by Intertek in October 2025 using a 3 kg real-world laundry load and LG’s internal testing standards for the TurboWash™ + Dry cycle¹. Users do not need to transfer their clothes to a separate dryer after washing. They can simply load the laundry, press a button and return to clean, dry clothes—leaving more time for what matters most.

 

Less Energy: Dual Inverter HeatPump™ Technology Recirculates Heat and Saves Up to 50% of Energy

Another core innovation of the WashCombo™ AI 2-in-1 Heat Pump Washer Dryer is the integration of high-efficiency HeatPump™ drying technology into an all-in-one washer dryer. Conventional drying methods require heat to be generated continuously. In contrast, LG’s Dual Inverter Heat Pump system uses a closed-loop design that recovers and recirculates hot air inside the appliance, reducing heat loss through efficient heat exchange.

 

LG’s internal laboratory testing shows that, when measured over a complete wash-and-dry cycle, WashCombo™ AI exceeds the European Class A energy-efficiency standard by 10%² and delivers an approximately 50%³ improvement in energy efficiency, demonstrating its outstanding energy-saving performance.

WashCombo™ AI also uses R290⁴, a natural refrigerant with a lower global warming potential. Its Auto Cleaning Condenser automatically cleans the condenser, reducing routine maintenance and helping the heat-pump system continue operating effectively. Together, these features make everyday laundry simpler and more effortless while supporting “The Art of Less.”

 

Less Fabric Wear: Gentle HeatPump™ Drying Delivers Up to a 90% Improvement in Shrinkage

In addition to enhancing energy efficiency, HeatPump™ drying technology is designed to provide gentle fabric care. Drying at a lower temperature reduces the stress that high heat can place on fabric fibres, making it particularly suitable for garments requiring more delicate care.

 

Intertek conducted a fabric-shrinkage test in October 2025 using a 1 kg real-world laundry load that included wool fabric. The test compared shrinkage after using the Wool/Hand Wash and Dry cycle with shrinkage after completing a Cotton wash-and-dry cycle. The results showed an improvement in shrinkage of up to 90%, helping users care for their clothes throughout the entire washing and drying process⁵.

 

AI Wash™ 2.0⁶: Evolving from Guesswork to AI-Personalised Washing

Every laundry load differs in weight, fabric composition and level of soiling, meaning the same settings may not deliver optimal results each time. Powered by AI DD™, the AI Wash™ 2.0 technology in WashCombo™ AI transforms laundry from a manually configured process into an intelligent experience tailored to the condition of each load.

 

AI Wash™ 2.0 provides enhanced fabric care while reducing energy consumption. Once users select the AI Wash™ cycle, the system detects the weight of the load, the softness of its fabrics and the level of soiling. It then uses this information to select the appropriate drum motions and water intensity, while adjusting the washing time and rinsing process to achieve a balance between cleaning performance, fabric care and energy efficiency.

 

ezDispense and 6 Motion: Intelligent Control of Detergent Dosage and Washing Motions

The WashCombo™ AI 2-in-1 Heat Pump Washer Dryer features the ezDispense automatic dispensing system, eliminating the need to measure detergent with a bottle cap before every wash. The detergent and fabric-softener compartments hold enough product for up to 17 wash cycles. The system automatically dispenses the appropriate amount for each load, helping reduce chemical residue caused by excessive detergent use while removing the inconvenience of adding detergent every time.

 

Working alongside LG’s Inverter Direct Drive Motor, 6 Motion technology precisely controls the movement of the drum. It recreates six distinct washing motions—stepping, scrubbing, swing, filtration, rolling and tumbling—to provide suitable care for different types of clothing. The uniquely designed embossed drum further reduces direct friction and pulling between clothing and the drum, balancing powerful cleaning with delicate fabric care.

 

Steam+™⁷ Delivers Deep Steam Care and Is Certified by the British Allergy Foundation to Reduce House-Dust-Mite Allergens

In Hong Kong’s humid and dusty environment, fabric care involves more than removing visible stains. The WashCombo™ AI 2-in-1 Heat Pump Washer Dryer features Steam+™ technology, which uses fine, high-temperature steam to penetrate deep into fabric fibres. Its Allergy Care cycle is certified by the British Allergy Foundation (BAF) to eliminates approximately 99.9% of allergens, such as dust mites that can cause allergy or respiratory issues, providing more comprehensive fabric care for households that place particular importance on clothing hygiene.

 

Steam+™ also includes a Wrinkle Care function that can reduce wrinkles by approximately 30%. Intertek conducted testing in December 2018 in accordance with AATCC standards, comparing a Cotton cycle with and without the Wrinkle Care option using three blended-fabric shirts. The results showed that activating Wrinkle Care improved wrinkle performance.

 

Steam+™ also penetrates deep into fibres to help remove odours caused by smoke, hotpot meals and humid weather, leaving clothes feeling fresh again. Pure steam can also help restore softness and volume to fabrics, reducing reliance on chemical fabric-care products.

 

Microplastic Care, Scent+ and ThinQ™ Extend the Smart Fabric-Care Experience

WashCombo™ AI features a dedicated Microplastic Care Cycle that uses specially designed swinging and drum motions to reduce friction between garments during washing. Intertek conducted testing in July 2023 using a 3 kg load of 100% polyester sports jackets. The Microplastic Care Cycle was compared with a designated Mixed Fabric cycle, with the amount of microplastic measured using a 20 μm filter. The results showed that microplastic release could be reduced by up to 60%⁸.

 

The Scent+ feature helps fragrance remain on clothes for longer. Intertek testing conducted in February 2024 showed that clothing washed with the Scent+ option retained at least 100% ⁹more fragrance.
