Solution for Not supporting LG TV Models or Prior to year 2017 LG Smart TV Models
To Disney+ Hotstar only supports video playback on LG Smart TVs running webOS 3.5 or higher, which includes television models launched from 2017 onwards. If you own an older LG TV manufactured in 2016 or earlier, the app will no longer allow you to stream content due to upgraded technical requirements. To continue watching your favorite shows on an unsupported television, you will need to connect an external streaming device like a Fire TV Stick, Google Chromecast, or Apple TV to your television's HDMI port.
- Q. Why is Disney+ Hotstar no longer working on my older LG TV?
- A. Disney+ Hotstar has updated its app requirements to support LG webOS 3.5 and higher (models launched in 2017 or later). Older TVs lack the processing power and software capabilities required to run the updated video playback engine.
- Q. Can I manually update my 2016 or older LG TV to webOS 3.5?
- A. No, it is not possible to upgrade the webOS version beyond what your specific TV hardware model officially supports. LG does not offer major webOS version upgrades for older TV hardware lineages.
