LG Support Help Library, LG smart home appliances and the ThinQ app do not support the 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency band. LG products are designed to operate exclusively on a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi wireless network because it provides a longer broadcast range and a more stable connection through household walls. If you are using a dual-band router, you will need to ensure that your smartphone is connected to the router's 2.4GHz network band (and that the network name or SSID does not contain "5G" or "5GHz") before trying to register your product
[ThinQ] Does my LG product support 5Ghz Wi-Fi via router?
LG smart home appliances and the ThinQ app do not support the 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency band. They are designed to operate exclusively on a 2.4GHz network to ensure a longer, more stable connection through household walls
Important
- 2.4GHz Only: LG ThinQ appliances exclusively support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks and will not connect to a 5GHz network.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Q. Why is my TV not finding the 5GHz network?
- A. Your TV might be too far from the router, or your router is combining both bands into a single Wi-Fi name.
- Q. Is 5GHz better than 2.4GHz for streaming?
- A. Yes. 5GHz is much faster and reduces buffering when watching 4K videos, as long as the router is close to the TV.
