It can be incredibly frustrating when your LG monitor displays an unnatural color tint or an inaccurate white balance, turning what should be crisp whites into muddy yellows, harsh blues, or dull pinks. Whether you are a creative professional requiring color accuracy or a casual user trying to reduce eye strain, improper color calibration severely disrupts your viewing experience. While a sudden color shift can sometimes point to a failing backlight or a damaged panel, it is far more frequently triggered by minor, easily fixable culprits like a loose HDMI or DisplayPort cable, misconfigured Windows or macOS color profiles, or an accidental change in the monitor’s On-Screen Display (OSD) settings. Tracking down the root cause is the key to restoring vibrant, true-to-life colors to your display.
Causes and Symptoms
- The video signal cable connection condition is poor.
- The video color setting is changed.
The color temperature is set to 6,500K by default due to its abilities to make eyes comfortable, and it is
the standard temperature color for the monitor.
If you feel strong red or yellow hue in the default color, and it is necessary to change it, then you can
adjust the color temperature or color.
Try this
Is the cable connected properly?
➔ Check if the pins are damaged or have foreign objects. If they do, replace the cable with an authentic cable.
Did you use the cable that came with the monitor?
Did you reset the monitor setting?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Q. Why does my LG monitor have a yellow or blue color tint?
- A. A yellow tint is usually caused by Night Light (Windows) or Night Shift (macOS) being turned on, which reduces blue light to ease eye strain. A blue or cold tint often means your monitor's Color Temperature is set to "Cool" instead of "Warm" or "Standard" in the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu.
- Q. How do I completely reset the colors on my LG monitor?
- A. Press the Joystick/Menu button on your monitor, navigate to Settings, look for General, and select Reset to Initial Settings. This will instantly wipe out any accidental calibration errors and restore factory default color profiles.
When you use the same monitor with the same color settings in Dual Mode, the colors may look
different.
※ If you reset the settings, the values will be changed to factory default values. So it's recommended
to take note of them.
