What is Pixel Cleaning?
- This is a feature unique to OLED TVs that compensates for problems on the screen that can occur if the TV is left on for a long period of time.
- To help you watch TV at optimal quality, your OLED TV will perform this function on its own when the TV is turned off after a certain amount of time and when you turn it off with the remote control.
- If something is wrong with the screen, you can manually trigger this feature with the remote control.
This content is about triggering the feature through the TV menu settings if something is wrong with the screen.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Q. What is the difference between Pixel Cleaning and Pixel Refresher?
- A. They are essentially the same feature renamed over time. LG used the term Pixel Refresher on older models, but it is called Pixel Cleaning on newer TVs. The function works to prevent and fix temporary image retention, screen burn-ins, faint lines, or spots by recalibrating the pixels on your self-illuminating display.
- Q. Does the TV run this automatically?
- A. Yes, your LG TV is built to manage this automatically in the background when the screen is turned off. It runs a short 7-to-10-minute cycle every time you power down the TV after a cumulative 4 hours of viewing time. Additionally, a deeper long cycle triggers for about 1 hour after every 2,000 hours of cumulative watching, which helps maintain overall panel health and prevent permanent screen burn-in without you needing to do a thing.
