ON-SCREEN TV PICTURE TEST
To better help ascertain the root cause of a less than adequate picture quality on screen LG features a built-in Picture Test for its televisions. The test simply consists of determining, by process of elimination, whether TV or peripheral device connected to TV is at fault. It is not uncommon for a set-top-box to go on the brinks of for the wire connecting both devices to one another to break down as well.
Poor picture quality such as lines across the screen, image breaking out in little square blocks (macroblocking), image ghosting, video artefacts, image or color abnormalities, etc., are often caused by the video source or a broken/damaged HDMI cable.
Execute a TV Picture Test to determine whether the panel or other TV component might be defective. Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Test > Enter
Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Test > Enter
Take a close look at the picture shown on screen. Is the picture displayed clearly on the television screen… yes or no?
If the on-screen TEST picture looks fine then you will need to examine the video peripherals hooked-up to the television for any issues.
If the set-top-box, Blu-ray player, game console or media box can be connected to television differently, please try that. Change inputs and assess on-screen picture quality. If picture is fine via video component but undesirable or absent via HDMI port, try another HDMI port. The television’s input terminal could also be defective.
If you have determined the issue to be with the television, please contact LG Call Center, toll-free, at 1-888-542-2623 to examine your options (warranty or not, cost of repair, nearest service center, etc.)
