Not all Bluetooth devices are compatible with each other. The only features or profiles you will be able to use are the ones that both devices have in common.

* Below are some of the more common profiles that you may see associated with your cell phone.

- Headset Profile (HSP) This profile is used to enable Bluetooth headsets to perform basic functions on your phone like answering a call, hanging up, and adjusting volume.

- Hands Free Profile (HFP) This profile is used to allow car hands-free kits to communicate with your phone.

- Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) This profile defines the way one Bluetooth device streams audio to a second Bluetooth device. An example of this would be playing music on your cell phone and having the audio play thru your Bluetooth headset.

- Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) This profile is used to allow one Bluetooth device to control multiple pieces of A/V equipment.

- Object Push Profile (OPP) This profile is used for sending things like pictures, virtual business cards, and calendar events.

- File Transfer Profile (FTP) This profile provides the capability to browse, manipulate and transfer files.

- Message Access Profile (MAP) This profile enables exchange of messages between devices.

- Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) This profile allows the exchange of Phone Book contacts.
