You can update your LG TV software through a network connection. Connect the TV to the internet first, then check for updates and restart the TV after installation completes.
The update may fail without internet access.
A network software update requires the TV to be connected to the internet. The update is applied only after the TV restarts.
1. Confirm the TV is online
Connect the TV using a wired connection or Wi-Fi. If you use Wi-Fi, select your router and enter the password when prompted. The network screen should show that the TV is connected to the internet.
2. Let the update finish
When the update starts, wait until the progress reaches 100%. If you choose Cancel Update, you can update later, but the current update will not continue.
3. Restart to apply the update
After installation, the TV may show that the update will be applied when you restart. Turn the TV off, then turn it on again to complete the update.
Please follow these steps to update the TV.
Use the TV settings menu to check for and install the latest software. After the restart, you can return to the same menu to confirm the software version.
Step 1. Connect the TV to the internet
Open the network connection menu and choose a wired connection or Wi-Fi, depending on what is available. For Wi-Fi, select your router, enter the password, and confirm that the TV shows it is connected to the internet.
Step 2. Open About This TV
How to set: General > About This TV
Go to About This TV from the General settings menu. You can view the current software version on this screen.
Step 3. Turn on automatic updates
How to set: General > About This TV
If Allow Automatic Updates is off, turn it on. This helps the TV receive update prompts when new software is available.
Step 4. Check for available updates
How to set: General > About This TV
Select Check for updates. If an update is found, follow the on-screen prompt to start the download and installation.
Step 5. Wait until installation reaches 100%
The update progress appears on the screen while the software installs. Wait for it to complete before leaving the update process.
Step 6. Restart the TV
When the TV says the software update has been installed, turn the TV off and then turn it on again. The updated software is applied during restart.
Step 7. Confirm the updated version
How to set: General > About This TV
After the TV turns back on, open About This TV again. Check the Software Version field to confirm that the update was completed.
