Humming Noise
Severe vibration or rattling sounds are usually the result of improper installation. If the air conditioner wasn’t installed securely in the window according the directions in the owner’s manual, then the case could rattle or make a loud vibrating noise.
If your air conditioner is making a humming noise, it is important to make sure that the air conditioner is installed securely in the window. Check the front grille to make sure that it is attached securely. In some instances, the rattling noise is as simple as removing and re-installing the front grille so that it does not rattle against the case.
