Knock twice and find out.
It’s a whole new way to look inside
without letting the cold out:
LG InstaView™
A simple question. A new direction.
People know what’s in their fridge.
Yet they constantly open the door
without giving it a second thought.
But LG did.
We noticed, every time, you lose cold air and energy.
It may seem trivial, but it quickly adds up.
So we added a separate space for the things you use most,
introducing Door-in-Door™ in 2010.
Then we kept asking:
Why open the door just to see inside?
What if the door became a window?
We looked closer at the hassles that most people overlook,
and changed the course of the refrigerator.
Knock There’s always a way.
What if the door itself became a window? It sounded simple enough.
Making it work was anything but. The door had to be transparent without compromising cooling performance.
Our first idea was ordinary glass. But condensation from poor insulation
made it hard to keep the fridge cold. So our research continued.
The answer came from an unexpected place: glass used in ship wheelhouses built to withstand extreme weather.
We developed Low-E coated glass with leading glassmakers, designed to let light through while keeping the cold in.
Then we added a special panel that turns transparent with two knocks.
It all came together in 2016
when we reduced cold-air loss
while keeping everything inside fresh
with LG InstaView™.
The door that changed everyday life
InstaView™’s innovation expanded across the kitchen,
reaching SKS wine cellars in 2019
and InstaView™ ovens in 2020.
Recognized by the world’s three major design awards
and CES Innovation Awards,
with global cumulative sales surpassing 5.3 million units as of July 2026,
InstaView™ changed how we think about the refrigerator
and established a new standard for how we use appliances.
A better life doesn’t happen by magic.
It starts when we don't accept the inconveniences we
live with, and find new ways to make life better.
That’s how every day becomes a little more special.

A reassuring deep-cleaning solution,
Steam Technology
Looking clean vs.being clean
For years, water and detergent seemed enough. But there was a limit to lingering odors in the laundry,
contamination deep within fabrics, and the germs left on dishes.
People wanted more reassurance: “I wish I could feel better about the things I use every day.”
As expectations for cleanliness grew, so did our questions.
Ultra-fine Steam Technology for invisible care
In 2003, we began researching steam technology.
Boiling water wasn’t enough.
The steam had to reach deep into fabrics
and hard-to-reach spots in dishes,
without damage to fabrics or excess moisture.
It was a difficult challenge, but we wouldn’t compromise.
Our research grew more refined, more precise.
After more than two years of persistence, in 2005,
LG presented the first steam washer with a dual-injection system
—combining high-temperature steam and detergent water spray.
Instead of intermittent bursts, a continuous spray method was engineered to effectively eliminate stubborn stains and smooth out wrinkles with powerful steam delivery.
LG Steam Technology a true LG heritage
LG’s journey with steam didn’t stop with washers.
By 2007, we broadened the steam ecosystem to dryers and dishwashers,
and the launch of LG Styler™ in 2011 opened a new category for clothing care, In 2024,
we developed a powerful high-pressure steamer based on 50,000 customer responses.
Another step in our technology’s continuing evolution.
Steam Technology now spans laundry and kitchen appliances alike,
standing as one of LG’s iconic technical heritages.
Because cleaning’s just the beginning.
Our technology goes deeper to care for the whole family and help keep every day healthier.

How can I can I get get bar-quality
ice
at home?

Consider it done!
Craft Ice™ uses
the freezing principle of icicles
to create crystal-clear spheres,
perfect to the last sip.
Ice, the finishing touch
As home bars became more popular,
people became more sophisticated and discerning.
But getting the round, carved ice bartenders use
meant using special molds or a separate ice maker,
leaving people to wonder,
“Isn’t there an easier way to do this?”
That changed the way we looked at ice.
Ice shape and size affect how quickly a drink dilutes
and how long its aroma lingers.
So we approached it as the perfect finishing touch.
This pursuit of a refined, at-home drinking experience
inspired our ice-making technology.
The ‘Round Ice’ Project
In 2012, LG set out to create perfectly round ice.
The first prototype in 2013 got the shape right. But achieving crystal clarity proved harder.
Joining two halves left white bubbles and a visible seam.
The breakthrough came from nature.
Our researchers looked at icicles, which stay clear as they slowly freeze.
They applied this principle to a sphere, the optimal shape for a slower melt.
Then they analyzed countless cups and tumblers to arrive at the ideal 5cm size.
In 2019, years of research led
to the refrigerator
with this technology:
LG InstaView™ with Craft Ice™.
Ice for Every occasion
From Craft Ice™, we expanded our vision for ice.
Today, there’s ice for all kinds of drinks.
From hard, slow-melting Craft Ice™
and Mini Craft Ice™ for different glassware,
to quick-chilling Crushed Ice
and essential Cubed Ice.
We do more than cool drinks.
Our premium ice elevates the drinking experience
with Ice Solutions for every occasion,
from morning coffee to evening gatherings.
It’s the little things that make a moment.
We made the smallest details count
so every drink can be savored.

What do I do with something
I’ve only worn once?
*This content includes AI-generated images for illustrative purposes.
No need to wash it!
Just hang it up.
Wrinkles, odors, and dust. Gone.
Fresh and ready to wear.
Meet LG Styler™,
a whole new way to care for clothes.
Big ideas can start small
Garment care used to mean one of two things:
a washing machine or an iron.
But LG wondered.
What if we could care for clothes
without washing them every time?
The answer, it turned out, didn't start in a lab.
It started on a business trip.
2001. In a hotel room,
Head of R&D Jo Seong-jin was staring at a wrinkled jacket in his suitcase.
His wife had a simple suggestion:
“Turn on the shower. The steam will smooth it out.”
A little piece of everyday wisdom. And the beginning of a whole new category in garment care.
So began a nine-year journey
Following the product concept planning in 2002,
we officially began development in 2006
to turn a bold idea into reality.
There was no appliance like it, and no roadmap to follow.
We brought together technologies from across LG.
Steam technology from washing machines.
Precision temperature control from refrigerators.
Airflow control from air conditioners.
Piece by piece, we built, tested,
and refined until we found the answer.
Moving Hanger shakes clothes
out to remove dust and debris the way people like to do by hand.
TrueSteam™ heats water to 100°C, creating ultra-fine steam, to reach deep into the fabric and tackle odor and buildup.
Nine years of development. Countless challenges and tests.
In 2011, LG Styler™ finally arrived.
Beyond garment care, now part of everyday styling
Styler kept evolving after its 2011 debut.
Adding the Pants Press for sharp, precise lines,
and listening to 50,000 customers to introduce the
High-Pressure Handy Steamer—
letting you smooth out wrinkles effortlessly,
right on the hanger.
From the pieces you save for special occasions
to your everyday go-tos,
just hang them up after wearing and they’ll be ready for tomorrow.
Our solution to an everyday inconvenience
is now changing how we care for clothes
and how we get dressed every day.

Everything’s within easy reach.
LG WashTower™
Designed around you
Developing an integrated washer and dryer took more than simply putting two appliances together.
We lowered the overall height by 80mm and set the center of the dryer door at 148.3cm.
This way, everything was at a comfortable height.
The controls went right where they’re easiest to reach.
The dryer even preheated in time for the wash to finish.
Every detail was designed around you. And in 2020,
we introduced the one-body washer-dryer
LG WashTower™
A better laundry experience
In 2020, LG WashTower™ transformed the way the world does laundry. Another innovation was AI DD™ technology which took the guesswork out of choosing a cycle by sensing the fabric type and weight of each load.
Beyond the technology, the flat, minimalist design fit neatly into any space and earned recognition from CES and the world’s leading design awards.
With a lower profile that lets you move more freely, WashTower helps your day feel as fresh as clean laundry.

No worries.
Drying at lower temperatures,
it’s technology you can trust every day.
Heat Pump Technology
The Problem? Shrinkage.
Heater-based drying has been around
since LG's first electric dryer in 1991.
The problem? Shrinkage.
The hot air was like using a hair dryer on fabrics.
We asked:
"Could we dry clothes efficiently
at lower temperatures?"
We found the answer in Heat Pump technology,
which circulates refrigerant to dry laundry.
Technology
for
gentler drying
Low-temperature drying condenses
and removes moisture at 50-60°C,
reducing fabric shrinkage and damage
while easing energy costs at home.
After the first Inverter Heat Pump dryer in 2016,
LG developed the Dual Inverter Compressor in-house,
with two cylinders to compress the refrigerant.
Then in 2017,
the 4th-gen DUAL Inverter HeatPump™ dryer delivered faster drying speeds and exceptional energy efficiency.
Where laundry goes next
With our heat pump technology, the innovation didn’t stop with a dryer.
In 2016, beginning with the LG SIGNATURE WasherDryer, we continued to evolve laundry with a compact, high-efficiency heat pump module developed and integrated by LG.
Building on over 20 years of compressor expertise, we are creating a new standard for laundry.
Lower temperatures. Higher efficiency. The freedom to wear what you love every day.

Count on it.
When it’s built with a strong core
using our in-house technology,
an appliance can stand the test of time.
LG Core Tech
No more noise or friction
For decades, conventional washing machines connected the drum and motor with a rubber belt.
The ensuing friction caused noise and vibration, and belts could wear out and break.
It was also a time when appliances relied on imported components.
Then LG challenged the status quo: What if the motor could turn the drum without a belt?
The question marked a defining moment in
LG Core Tech’s 60-year journey.
Driven by a determination to rethink and build the fundamentals of appliances on our own,
we developed Direct Drive (DD) technology, bringing the drum and motor together as one.
Patented innovation
Our technological expertise began in 1962 with electric fan motor. Then in 1998, we successfully developed the Inverter DirectDrive Motor™ System Top Load Washer,
marking a milestone in our motor technology.
Even as the industry moved toward spinning off component businesses in the early 2000s, we continued to invest in motor research and develop proprietary technology.
By precisely winding approximately 240m wire and eliminating the belt for a simpler structure, the resulting motors reduced vibration and noise while maximizing energy efficiency.
From the Inverter DD™ front load washer in 2000, to 6 Motion DD™, which mimics hand-washing, and AI DD™, which detects load weight and fabric type, we have continued to evolve our technology.
With over 660 global patents related to motors and compressors, and cumulative global production exceeding 130 million units as of 2026, Core Tech carries on our legacy of putting Korean technology on the world stage.
Technology
that
drives the future
LG has a record of long-term reliability:
a 30-year lifetime certification for the Inverter DirectDrive Motor™ from TÜV Rheinland* in 2025.
LG's 10-year warranty on Inverter DirectDrive Motor™ underscores our confidence and proven technology.
Then in 2026, drawing on big data and 60+ years of motor manufacturing expertise,
LG unveiled LG Actuator AXIUM™, a new brand for humanoid robot joint actuators.
Now, LG’s proprietary motor technology is moving toward a future of precision control.
A good life begins with a strong foundation, even in the details you can’t see.
It’s technology made to last, with integrity at its core.

It’s not just science fiction anymore.
LG’s Affectionate Intelligence and Physical AI
are bringing the vision of a Zero Labor Home to
life with robots that understand you.
LG CLOiD
The start of rethinking robotics: true help with housework
Housework is about more than the mechanics of sweeping, mopping, and wiping.
To truly free us from household chores, we need something that can read the room,
sense how people are feeling, and understand different contexts of life at home.
So we asked:
Can a robot truly understand what a home needs?
Since 1983, when we introduced Top1, designed as an educational tool,
LG has always prioritized human-centered robotics.
That commitment has shaped our 40-year journey
toward a future of robotics in the home.
Building smarter robotics
Since introducing robot vacuum, RoboKing,
in 2003, LG has advanced its spatial recognition technology,
from ultrasonic sensors to dual cameras and 3D sensors.
In 2018, LG CLOi Home expanded the realm of service robots
to connect sensitively with human emotions,
bringing service robots closer to people.
In 2023, we introduced Q9,
a mobile AI home agent moving on two-legged wheels
with autonomous driving technology,
designed to consider a child's emotions
by reading books and even creating and telling stories.
Life companion robots For over forty years
LG has built expertise in spatial recognition and motor and actuator technology.
Now, that expertise is evolving into home robots.
Across a sprawling 33,000-square-meter data factory, we train Robot Foundation Models (RFM) by having over 100 robots interact with and learn from more than 4,000 types of household objects.
This enables us to keep developing Physical AI that thinks and acts on its own.
In 2026, LG CLOiD made its debut, showcasing natural interaction with people
and taking on household tasks with five-fingered hands.
Each step has brought us closer to a Zero Labor Home.
With robots that understand the spaces within a home and even how people feel from day to day,
we’re moving toward a future that unlocks more freedom from repetitive housework
and more time to share with family.

Can materials protect the appliances
we touch every day?
An innovation that starts from
the very raw materials wrapping the appliance.
LG Advanced Materials
It Starts with What Appliances Are Made Of
Oil and food splatters
from cooking, moisture, heat, corrosion,
and microbial growth on its surface.
Keeping appliances clean was a constant effort
sometimes requiring harsh chemical cleaners,
all because of the limits of
conventional appliance surfaces.
“What if the material itself
could leave fewer stains
and inhibit microbial growth?”
Driven by a determination to innovate not just products,
but the raw materials in direct contact with daily life,
LG began its journey in advanced materials research.
Evolved Glass,
Tested in
Antarctica
LG completed a hydrophilic enamel coating that lets you easily wipe away oven stains using only water.
In a rare move for an appliance maker, LG built a dedicated glass furnace at LG Smart Park in Changwon to establish an in-house production system, and launched EasyClean™ in 2013 to pioneer material innovation.
Since then, the infinite potential of glass
expanded beyond appliance surfaces.
We developed LG PuroTec™ (2022),
an antimicrobial material that helps inhibit microbial growth on the material itself,
LG Mineral Wash™ (2023), a functional cleaning material that helps clean laundry without surfactants, and LG Marine Balance™ (2024), a water-soluble glass material designed to support marine ecosystem restoration.
Heading directly to King Sejong Station in Antarctica under intense UV, extreme cold, and resource scarcity,
our researchers verified surfactant-free laundry with base members, and proved unwavering durability and stability in extreme polar environments through experiments on Antarctic environmental microorganisms and marine microorganisms.
*LG Marine Balance™ is a water-soluble glass powder engineered to steadily and precisely release targeted mineral ions into the water, fostering the growth of diverse marine life while contributing to the restoration of marine ecosystems. By adjusting the dissolution rate and the types of targeted minerals, LG Marine Balance™ can continuously supply nutrients tailored to specific marine organisms. This process supports biodiversity and helps establish healthier, more resilient ocean environments.
Beyond Appliances, Sustaining the Planet
What began as research on tiny glass powders
to protect appliance cleanliness and safety
has now expanded into global B2B markets,
including building materials and plastic packaging.
Going further, it is evolving into a sustainable future material solution
that helps prevent marine desertification and protects our planet.
A good life begins with the peace of mind
that comes from what your hands touch every day.
From unseen surfaces to the planet we live on,
we keep innovating with care.
