LG Inspires Young Innovators From 185 Countries at the FGC 2026 International Robotics Competition
Young innovators from 185 countries came together in Incheon, South Korea, for the 2026 FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Global Challenge. The international robotics competition invited participants to apply their technical skills and strategic thinking to design and build robots, collaborate on missions and develop solutions to real-world issues.
LG Electronics (LG) was delighted to support the event, celebrating the creativity of the next generation and sharing our vision for the future of robotics with LG CLOiD™.
Robots Take on a Global Challenge
Since its launch in 2017, the FIRST Global Challenge has brought together youth teams from around the world to tackle global issues through robotics. This year’s theme, “Igniting Innovation,” focused on wildfire prevention and recovery. In a simulated environment reflecting different stages of wildfire response, teams used their robots to complete missions in prevention, firefighting and recovery. An alliance of young participants from Uzbekistan, Moldova, Venezuela and El Salvador took the overall victory.
A Glimpse Into the Future With LG CLOiD
At the event, we hosted a dedicated booth that turned our robotics vision into an interactive experience for attendees. At its center was LG CLOiD, our humanoid robot, alongside a model barbell symbolizing the bold ambition behind our future technologies.
As participants posed for photos with LG CLOiD and connected with fellow competitors, the booth became a place of shared excitement and personal aspiration. These moments linked our robotics vision with the ambition, curiosity and enthusiasm that defined the competition.
The event also offered an opportunity to share our robotics story with a global audience through the participants’ own experiences. Across our global channels and digital platforms, we plan to highlight their challenges, teamwork and growth, and to show why supporting young people as they explore new possibilities through technology matters.
Powering the Future of Robotics
LG is developing robotics as a future growth engine, combining Physical AI, robotics platforms, AI capabilities and data to expand into industrial, commercial and home applications. Our expertise includes developing and manufacturing key robotic components including actuators.
To accelerate robot autonomy and versatility, LG Data Factory collects and manages the large-scale data that powers robot learning and operation. We are also collaborating with NVIDIA to advance our Robot Foundation Model (RFM). Together, these efforts support our goal of becoming a comprehensive robotics solutions provider, spanning key components, finished robots, hardware and software.
Better Life for All
Supporting the FIRST Global Challenge puts our commitment to a “Better Life for All” into action. The competition gives participants who are ready to experiment, collaborate and explore new ideas a space to bring creativity, technology and teamwork together in addressing challenges facing communities worldwide. We aim to nurture the curiosity and talent behind these efforts, helping young innovators turn their ideas into a Better Life for All.
Through continued investment in robotics and Physical AI, LG is dedicated to advancing technology that creates meaningful value for people, the planet and the young innovators who will carry that mission forward.
