When Screens Step Back and Art Comes Forward: Experiencing LG’s Art Gallery at IFA 2026

At IFA 2026, held in Berlin from September 4 to 8, LG Electronics (LG) transformed part of its exhibition booth into the Art Gallery – an immersive space designed to put art, rather than the screen itself, at the center of the experience.

Anchored by the 83-inch LG OLED evo AI W6 (Wallpaper TV), the installation brought together displays from across LG’s premium and lifestyle TV lineups, each presenting art in a distinct way. Across two symmetrically arranged gallery walls, works from world-renowned institutions were brought to life through LG Gallery+, our dedicated art service powered by webOS, creating a unified experience in which advanced display technology, thoughtful design and carefully curated art came together.

The result was a gallery where visitors could first take in the space as a complete composition, then move closer to discover how each display allowed the artwork to take the lead.

A Screen That Lets the Artwork Lead

At the center of this installation was the Wallpaper TV. Perfect for displaying artworks from any era, the TV has a minimal physical presence that allows the onscreen image to take center stage, while its understated Wallpaper design integrates naturally with the surrounding architecture.

With a nine-millimeter-range* profile, the Wallpaper TV sits flush against the wall and offers the freedom of True Wireless connectivity. External device connections are moved to the separate Zero Connect Box, helping to keep cables and hardware away from the display and out of viewers’ line of sight.

The visual power and precision of the TV’s Hyper Radiant Color Technology were on full display in our gallery-themed showcase, preserving the color and depth of the original artworks for an authentic experience. At the same time, our Reflection Free Premium technology minimized reflections, helping prevent the exhibition lighting from becoming a distraction. Together, these innovations helped visitors focus on the art itself – bringing the images to the fore while the screen receded into the background.

“Wallpaper TV is the essence of the OLED series. Its ultra-thin design and gallery style are what OLED was built for,” said Roland Seibt, senior editor at Connect, a leading German technology publication. “Like a piece of art, the Wallpaper TV is a perfect match for gallery content.”

“At first, I didn’t realize these were TVs. I thought they were artworks. It’s a spectacular effect when you realize they are fully functional TVs. Amazing!” said Steve May, a prominent UK-based technology and home entertainment journalist.

Different Displays, One Composition

The installation brought together the Wallpaper TV, LG OLED evo AI G6 (G6) and LG Gallery TV from LG’s Art TV lineup, alongside LG StanbyME 2 from the Lifestyle TV lineup. Each model contributed a different visual character to the Art Gallery while following the same principle: letting the artwork lead.

The G6 gave larger works a stronger sense of scale and depth, with its expansive OLED canvas sitting close to the wall so images appeared naturally integrated into the space. The LG Gallery TV created a different effect. Its framed design and matte display gave individual pieces the familiar presence of artwork hung in a traditional gallery. More compact LG StanbyME 2 displays added variation in scale and orientation, guiding the eye between works and helping create rhythm across the installation.

Rather than functioning as a collection of individual screens, the displays worked together as part of a single visual composition.

“I love how a gallery setting presents televisions in a way you wouldn’t normally see them, while also showing just how good the picture quality is,” said Rik Henderson, a professional editor at T3, a leading UK-based consumer technology and lifestyle magazine. “In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find an actual painting that looks this good.”

From Global Collections to One Gallery

Connecting these different displays was LG Gallery+, LG’s dedicated art service powered by webOS. Although this premium service gives subscribers access to more than 5,000 artworks, our IFA exhibition centered on a focused selection of 132 works from The Met, the National Gallery London and Saatchi Art.

Among these were Edgar Degas’ The Rehearsal of the Ballet Onstage (1874) and William Merritt Chase’s At the Seaside (1892) from The Met, Van Gogh’s Long Grass with Butterflies (1890) and Rembrandt’s Self Portrait at the Age of 63 (1669) from the National Gallery London, alongside select contemporary works from Saatchi Art. The breadth of the selection allowed us to create a different atmosphere in each area of the Art Gallery.

Shifting visitors’ attention from examining the screens to following the art was the purpose of the Art Gallery. Its success in doing so served to highlight LG’s display and design prowess, and the ability of LG Gallery+ to deliver art suited to the space and the moment.

Just as it turned our IFA exhibition zone into a sophisticated art salon, LG Gallery+ can help transform the home into an engaging, aesthetically rich environment. Allowing users to move between beloved masterpieces, poignant photography and contemporary visuals, this exclusive service makes it easy to match the occasion, refresh the atmosphere of the room, or express one’s personal taste with memorable art.

“The same wall felt calmer with one work and more energetic with another. The picture quality of displays is impressive,” said Marie Ciolfi of Les Numériques, a leading French consumer-tech publication. “It made me think about what I would choose for my own room. I actually want this at home.”

With the Art Gallery at IFA, we showed how LG’s advanced televisions can elevate a space and create a more engaging experience that extends beyond the screen.
