What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay Away From LG Products I bought LG 55EF950V 2 years ago as a second TV - has been used VERY occasionally, max twice a month. Few weeks after the guarantee finished the TV lost sound - no sound neither through internal speakers, amplifier, headphones. Repairs - £500, main board to be replaced. I expected more from such expensive TV.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good picture, hate everything else The picture sold me this TV. It stood out from the others in the store. HD TV content is good if you make the right sharpness adjustments. SD is better than I thought although you can't sit too close. I absolutely hate hate hate the user interface. Everything is an ordeal. Makes me want to chuck it out of the window. No freesat EPG which turns out is fine as I'd rather use something that has been better designed. Not sure it was worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wish I could give it 10 stars! No TV will ever be perfect, acknowledging this is important, so any advances from this stage will be purely incremental, even with OLED. If you are buying this TV with the intention of not upgrading to full HD, at least, then buy a CRT. Buy it instead in order to future proof your viewing for what is coming next - ultra HD in HDR. As someone who sees contrast as the most important aspect of any image (not brightness as I don't care for having my eyeballs seared) there is nothing that approaches the brilliance of LG OLED televisions. Next to every other TV on sale that I viewed, side by side, this OLED wiped the floor with them. Panansonic (the next best option) and Samsung LED may be able to go brighter but the stunningly sumptuous depth of black, combined with the gloriously realistic colours of OLED create an unparalleled image. The fact that you can view from virtually every angle with no loss of contrast, compared to the extremely limited angles on LED, means that each viewer, no matter where they are seated is treated to the same spectacular picture. As for 3D? I have not yet seen a single ghosting image on the many 3D blurays that I have watched. There is no loss of definition. There is a negligible drop in brightness as the system is passive. If all 3D looked as glorious as this then it would not be struggling in the home cinema market when it is flourishing worldwide at the box office. I started this review by saying that no TV is perfect but LG OLED is as close to perfect as you will ever get. There's a shock coming......I'm a fan of this TV and its fantastic technology! Keep up the great work LG and please don't ever give up on 3D as your TVs and the format are a match made in heaven.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not meet expectations This TV is not suitable for Standard Definition programmes (which most tv is still broadcast in) due to problems with vignetting (distortion around moving objects/people) and blocking on blacks of different shades (Blocks of different levels of grey rather than smooth transition across dark grey to black) Standard definition football in my opinion is unwatchable due to vignetting. 4K and 3D picture excellent however when supplied with from good source. I hope LG will not refuse to publish this negative review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, feature packed TV. Took a long time to research and justify spending over £2,000 on this TV. Very easy to set up and use, fantastic compatibility with other peripherals (and not just LG). Very heavy on features (my first Smart TV), looks great, just need the 4K content to really do it justice! 5 star.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not as good as I thought Although this TV has a really good image it isn't as good as I thought it was when I saw it in the shop. OK I know that I was being shown a top quality 4K probably HDR type image in the shop, but I have done that at home using utube, still doesn't look as good. Overall though it is a super image and I would recommend the TV even though it is twice the price of non OLED TV's. The smart part is a pleasure to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent TV Straight out of the box this TV gives a great picture, with a few tweeks it gives a fantastic picture. Very easy to set up, Amazon Prime and Netflix work very well. Great being able to watch Amazon Prime in 4k (great that this TV has HDR) straight from the TV, no other devices needed. It's also great that the DNS can be changed, something a lot of devices don't allow. This TV replaced my 50" LG Plasma which has given me 5 years of faultless service, something I hope this TV does too. The colours are excellent and the blacks match plasma levels. Coupled with a LG upscaling Bluray player and you really see the quality of the picture, can't wait for 4k Bluray. I can't really comment on the speakers as I and I would assume others who own this TV will be running a AV receiver. The look and design, with the white etched back, is different, and just gives the TV that extra "wow" factor. Everyone whose seen it have been very impressed with the picture, Avatar looks fantastic on Bluray. All in all a fantastic TV, well done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use, stylish to look. It was quick and easy to set up, there were no problems linking it to our bluray, sky box or Apple TV. The mouse appears when you shake the magic remote which is handy. You can change the input source with your voice and more. The picture is great but there is one downside. The input sockets are at the side of the TV set about 25mm or so from the edge. This means that when the HDMI cables are inserted the cables themselves protrude from the side of the TV and look extremely unsightly. The cables themselves are quite thick and difficult to bend round out of sight. I managed it in the end with sticky fixers to a glass top but it might not be so easy on a wood table and I just can't conceive how it could be done if the TV is wall mounted but we did not try this. I also found that the standard length cables we had and the new cable for 4K that we had to buy were too short to reach the sky box etc if the boxes were positioned in the centre of the TV table. We had to move the boxes so they were positioned below the HDMI sockets on the left. This may not be possible if you have compartments in a TV table. They might seem minor points but When you buy a stylish TV the last thing you want is for its looks to be spoiled by what surrounds it.
