LG's 65EF950V OLED TV is fully compatible with HDR content HDR TV: What is it? How can you get it?

High Dynamic Range (HDR) is the latest buzz-phrase in the TV world, with manufacturers and content creators alike suggesting it could bring noticeable leaps in picture performance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid - serious problems with high pitch noise While picture, sound is great and this TV has lots of good features. I would not recommend to buy it. It has a serious issue with high pitch sound on standby. Two visits from engineers did not manage to fix it. I suggest to avoid for time being.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb TV - excellent picture quality The TV met all expectations and more. The picture quality is excellent. I did have some issues with picture judder initially and called LG support. After changing picture settings and a lot of experimenting I managed to fix the problem. Maybe the TV needed some warm up time or something but all seems well now. I've had a Pioneer Kuro Plasma in the past and also have Samsung LED TVs but I must say that 4K OLED blows them away. The price is high but competitive when compared to the Panasonic equivalent. I am also not a fan of curved TVs so this flat screen fits the bill. I would thoroughly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific TV, but poor dealer demo facilities I absolutely loath the stupid fad for curved screens, which suffer from magnified reflection problems and only provide the hyped ‘immersive’ experience if you are sat directly in front of it. So I have been waiting patiently for this flat version to appear, only to find that it’s only available from one retailer, who can’t demonstrate it properly, as they don’t even have a TV aerial!! The other problem (common to many other retailers), is the high brightness level of demo room, which makes it near impossible to see how well it performs with dark scenes, which is a bit daft, as this is where OLED should outperform all other TV’s! After a lot of hassle (2 trips there), I eventually manage to get a 3D Blue Ray player connected to get a demo with my test discs and had to rely on magazine tests for the rest. At home, and set up, I am pleased to confirm that it is a terrific HD picture and in particular, the 3D picture is the best I have seen on any TV, significant better than I have seen on a TV with 'active shutter glasses', being brighter with no crosstalk (extra glasses are also very cheap, I got four for less than the average price of one active shutter type). There is also a set of picture set up adjustments for 3D (which can only be set with a 3D disc running). Note: This is not mentioned in the manual, which I consider is poor, being not detailed enough. The 3D disc settings allow you to apply some correction for the light losses in the glasses. I used “Digital Video Essentials – HD Basics (Blue Ray), via the ‘Expert’ setting, to set mine up. I can’t comment about the sound (I don’t use the internal system), or the ‘Smart’ features, as they require me to sign up to onerous Terms & Conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent TV Had this TV for a few weeks now. The picture is fantastic in all respects. If you are in the market for a new high-end tv, you need to consider this.... Can't comment on the sound as I use a Bose sound-system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb! I invested a lot of time researching a replacement TV and am really glad I selected this model as it is by far the best picture I have ever experienced and is also very user friendly. A couple of points… Should you plan on wall mounting this TV then double check that the wall brackets on offer from your supplier do the job as the screen is only 5mm in part and requires a certain type of bracket. Should you instead decide to place it on a TV stand and you also plan on using a sound bar then check that the sound bar fits on a shelf below the TV rather than directly in front, as the TV sits on a small 7cm stand and the sound bar might part block your view.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome TV but arrived with a fault. Ordered online from Curry's but arrived with one end of the box soaking wet, probably from rain. It was so wet the box had started to delaminate. That said the TV seemed dry so we went ahead with installation... However the set has a power on issue in that, when first powered up with the mains having been off, there is no screen image, only audio. Recycling back to standby then on does not clear the fault, but recycling the mains power does. It is being swapped for a replacement...
