Fix audio and video out of sync on LG TV channels
If lip-sync is off on only one channel, the broadcast signal for that channel is usually the cause. If it happens on all channels, adjust Match Screen and Sound or AV Sync Adjustment until the audio matches the picture.
Please Note
- Adjust audio delay in small steps and test after each change.
- These settings apply to webOS 6.0 (2021) or later; menu names and locations may differ on older models.
- Match Screen and Sound applies only to the TV speaker or devices that support Sound Share and are connected to the TV’s HDMI (eARC/ARC) port.
- For exact usage and settings of third-party devices, please check the manufacturer's customer service or user manual.
Why the picture and sound can fall out of sync
If the issue happens only on a specific channel, it is usually caused by that channel’s broadcast signal.
If the issue happens on all channels, the TV’s audio processing or an external audio device connection can introduce a delay that needs to be adjusted in the TV settings.
1. Out of sync on only one channel
A problem with the broadcast signal for that channel is the most likely cause.
Contact your broadcast service provider for assistance.
2. Out of sync on all channels
The delay may be related to the TV speaker processing or an external speaker connection.
Use the TV’s sound sync settings to match the picture and sound.
Try these settings to correct lip-sync
First, confirm whether the issue occurs on one channel or all channels.
If it occurs on all channels, try the TV speaker and an external speaker, then adjust Match Screen and Sound or AV Sync Adjustment until the audio matches the video.
Step 1. Step 1. Check whether it happens on one channel or all channels
If the issue is only on a particular channel, the broadcast signal for that channel may be causing the issue.
Contact your broadcast service provider first for assistance.
If it happens on all channels, continue with the settings below.
Step 2. Step 2. Set Match Screen and Sound to Bypass
Setting: All Settings > Sound > Advanced Settings > Match Screen and Sound
1) Press the Settings button on the TV remote, then select All Settings.
2) Select Sound, then Advanced Settings.
3) In Match Screen and Sound, select Bypass.
This outputs sound from the broadcast signal or external device without delay.
Step 3. Step 3. If needed, fine-tune TV Speaker Delay
Setting: All Settings > Sound > Advanced Settings > Match Screen and Sound > TV Speaker Delay
If the problem persists, turn off Bypass and select TV Speaker Delay.
Adjust the value carefully.
The closer the value is to 60, the slower the voice output gets.
Step 4. Step 4. Use AV Sync Adjustment to correct delay
Setting: All Settings > Sound > AV SYNC Adjustment
1) Press the Settings button on the TV remote, then select All Settings.
2) Select Sound, then AV SYNC Adjustment.
3) Select Bypass and set it to ON, then check whether audio and video are synced.
4) If they are still out of sync, set Bypass to OFF and adjust the sync value (0 to 15) for internal TV Speaker + Optical.
