Before relocating or installing your LG TV, confirm the TV dimensions, check that the installation space meets clearance requirements, and measure the full moving route (including doors, elevators, and stairs) to ensure the TV and its box can be moved safely.
Please Note
- Do not move a large TV by yourself. Use two or more people.
- Do not press or push on the screen panel when lifting or carrying the TV.
- When opening the box, use caution with knives or cutters to avoid damaging the TV.
- When placing the TV face-down to assemble a stand, use a flat, stable surface and clear the area of any objects that could scratch or impact the screen.
Relocation and installation problems can occur when space, route, or handling requirements are not checked in advance.
If the TV size, required clearances, or the moving route are not measured ahead of time, the TV (or its packaging) may not fit through entryways or may be installed too close to walls or ceilings. Improper lifting or handling can also damage the screen or cabinet during relocation.
1. The TV or box does not fit through the moving route
Door frames, elevators, hallways, and stair corners may be narrower than expected. Measure the full route before moving the TV, including tight turns and corner clearance.
2. Insufficient clearance at the installation location
If the TV is installed too close to walls, ceilings, or floors, ventilation and safe placement may be affected. Confirm the required spacing for stand or wall-mounted installation before setup.
3. Damage during unpacking or lifting
Using sharp tools carelessly, lifting by the screen area, or pressing the panel while carrying can cause damage. Always lift from the frame and support the bottom.
Prepare the location, route, and handling steps before relocating and installing your LG TV.
Step 1. Confirm the TV dimensions before relocation or installation
Check the exact dimensions of your desired LG TV model on the LG Electronics website.
Also consider that the packaging box dimensions can differ from the TV dimensions, and the box is often larger.
If you are unsure about feasibility, consult a professional installer or relocation specialist before moving the TV.
Step 2. Check the installation location clearance for a stand TV
For a stand installation, ensure at least 10 cm (3.93 inches) of space between the TV and the ceiling and side walls.
Confirm the stand surface is flat, stable, and wide enough to support the TV safely.
Step 3. Check the installation location clearance for a wall-mounted TV
For a wall-mounted installation, ensure at least 10 cm (3.93 inches) of space between the TV and the ceiling, floor, and side walls.
If wall mounting is difficult due to wall material, studs, or space constraints, consult a qualified installer.
Step 4. Measure the full moving route and allow clearance
Measure every point along the route into your home, including:
- Building entrance and unit door width/height (measure at the door frame)
- Elevator interior width/depth/height and door opening width
- Hallway width and any tight turns
- Stairway width, ceiling height, and corner turning space
For safe movement, plan for 5 cm to 10 cm (1.9 inches to 3.9 inches) of clearance between the TV packaging box and the moving route.
Step 5. Handle the TV safely during unpacking and stand assembly
When opening the box, avoid cutting too deep with a knife or cutter.
To lift the TV safely, hold the protective film on both sides while supporting the bottom of the TV with your other hand.
When moving the TV, do not press the screen panel with your fingers.
When assembling the stand, lay the TV down on a flat surface and confirm there are no objects underneath that could scratch or impact the screen.
FAQ
- Q. How much space should I leave around my LG TV during installation?
- A. Stand installation: leave at least 10 cm (3.93 inches) from the ceiling and side walls. Wall-mounted installation: leave at least 10 cm (3.93 inches) from the ceiling, floor, and side walls.
- Q. Why do I need to measure the route using the packaging box size?
- A. The packaging box is often larger than the TV itself and is the size you typically move through doors, elevators, and stairs. For safer movement, plan for 5 cm to 10 cm (1.9 inches to 3.9 inches) of clearance between the box and the route.
