AI Sound Pro uses LG deep-learning audio processing to adjust sound and create a virtual surround effect based on the type of content. If AI Sound Pro does not work as expected, confirm your TV’s webOS version and make sure the audio output device supports the feature.
Please Note
- AI Sound Pro applies only to the TV’s built-in speakers or to an external audio device connected to the HDMI (ARC/eARC) port that supports Sound Share.
- Menu names and locations can vary by model year and webOS version.
- If you are using smart functions (Home screen/apps), some quick menus may not appear; switch to an external input if needed.
AI Sound Pro may not work in these situations.
This issue is commonly caused by using an unsupported audio output path, having AI Sound Pro turned off, or following steps that do not match the TV’s webOS version.
1. The current sound output does not support AI Sound Pro
AI Sound Pro is designed for the TV’s internal speakers and for compatible external audio devices connected through the TV’s HDMI (ARC/eARC) port when Sound Share is supported. If you are using a different connection type or an incompatible device, AI Sound Pro may be unavailable or have no effect.
2. AI Sound Pro is turned off or a different sound mode is selected
If AI Sound Pro is Off, the TV will not apply AI-based processing. Depending on the model year, the feature may appear as AI Sound Pro or AI Sound.
3. The TV menu path differs by webOS version
LG TVs use webOS, and the settings structure can change by release year. If you follow steps for a different webOS version, you may not find the same menu names or locations.
Check your LG TV webOS version and enable AI Sound Pro in Settings.
Step 1. Check the webOS version shown in the Quick Settings menu
1) Switch the TV to an external input (for example, HDMI 1).
2) On the remote, press the Mute button three times in a row.
3) Check the webOS version displayed in the Quick Settings menu.
Note: If you are on the Home screen or using smart functions, the Quick Settings menu may not appear. Change to an external input and try again.
Step 2. Turn on AI Sound Pro (webOS 23 / 2023 models)
Setting: Settings > General > AI Service > AI Sound Pro
1) Press the Settings button on the remote.
2) Select All Settings.
3) Open General.
4) Select AI Service.
5) Set AI Sound Pro to On.
Tip (Magic Remote): You can also press and hold the Settings button for more than one second to open All Settings directly.
Step 3. Turn on AI Sound Pro (webOS 22 / 2022 models and webOS 6.0 / 2021 models)
Setting: Settings > General > AI Service > AI Sound Pro
1) Press the Settings button on the remote.
2) Select All Settings.
3) Select General.
4) Select AI Service.
5) Turn AI Sound Pro On.
Step 4. Turn on AI Sound or AI Sound Pro (webOS 5.0 / 2020 models and webOS 4.5 / 2019 models)
Setting: Settings > Sound > AI Sound
1) Press the Settings button on the remote.
2) Select All Settings.
3) Open Sound.
4) Turn AI Sound On.
Note: Some model years list the feature as AI Sound (instead of AI Sound Pro).
Step 5. If you use a soundbar, confirm HDMI (ARC/eARC) and SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) are enabled
Setting: Settings > General > External Devices > HDMI Settings > SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC)
1) Connect the soundbar to the TV’s HDMI (ARC/eARC) port.
2) Press the Settings button on the remote.
3) Select All Settings.
4) Go to General > External Devices > HDMI Settings.
5) Set SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) to On.
6) If your TV has a Sound Out setting, select HDMI(ARC) Device when using ARC/eARC.
This helps the TV properly control and output audio to compatible devices through HDMI.
FAQ
- Q. Why does AI Sound Pro not change the sound when I use an external speaker?
- A. AI Sound Pro applies to the TV’s built-in speakers and to compatible devices connected to the HDMI (ARC/eARC) port when Sound Share is supported. If your speaker is connected using a different method or does not support the required feature, AI Sound Pro may not be available or may have no audible effect.
- Q. I cannot find AI Sound Pro in Settings. What should I do?
- A. First check your TV’s webOS version (Mute pressed three times on an external input). Then follow the matching menu path. On some model years, the feature is listed as AI Sound under Sound settings instead of AI Sound Pro under General > AI Service.
