Individually small but collectively significant improvements make the C8 a superb all-rounder of a TV

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed This was the most highly rated 65 inch 4K TV on most online forums I found, and although the 4K picture and the colour are both superb, the clarity of detail in HD is poor, especially when it comes to things like hair strands and clothes fabric, it's very fuzzy, and SD is even worse, almost unwatchable, and this is on every preset that comes pre-stored. I'm of the opinion that the developers of this TV concentrated so much on the HLG, HDR and 4K capabilities of this TV that they forgot to work on the HD and SD requirements too, as after all, the great majority of programmes in the UK are still broadcasted in these two formats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Picture, better than expected sound. Really glad I went for the C8 model, the HD upscaling is fantastic and I could not be happier with picture and sound. Neflix 4K HDR content is particularly stunning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wowza! I haven't owned a TV for quite a few years, the last one I had was a HD (2k) Samsung LCD, which was okay.......but didn't handle dark images or fast moving scenes very well. It was cheap, so didn't expect much. I've been using my MacBook Pro 2018 recently (great screen, but too small for movies obviously), with a 32" 4k monitor, but that wan't much better than the old Samsung for image quality. I decided to take the plunge and go for the C8 55 OLED - holy guacamole! I've never seen images like this before, and I've been into the home cinema thing since the first Dolby Pro Logic era (1996-ish). Seriously, it's amazing, once you've set it up correctly that is. The image does take an hour or so of adjusting settings to get the best balance. It's so thin at the top, it's crazy - be super careful when unpacking this beast and installing the stand! The screen performs to its highest standard with Dolby Vision and HDR content via Netflix or Amazon, but it's pretty good with upscaling proper Full HD (1080p) content - not so much with compressed 1080p formats via USB. My Nintendo Switch looks ridiculously good - super colourful and smooth, even with fast moving games. It is disappointing that you can't play HDR content via the HDMI sockets (they're only 2.0 standard and not 2.0a or b) or the USB sockets (which are 2.0 and not 3.0 standard - USB 2.0 doesn't seem to stream HDR due to lack of bus bandwidth), this is silly and a bad move for LG given that the standards have been around for years now. For clarity, the only way to view the best quality image content available, is streaming via the internet over Amazon or Netflix (or similar), so you need a fast internet connection, like 60+ mbps, if you want to watch without buffering etc. So Blu-Ray HDR via HDMI won't display as well as Netflix. Also, the new HDR10+ isn't supported, but I don't think that's an issue, as HDR and Dolby Vision is pretty incredible. I've heard a lot about how these OLED TV's aren't bright enough, but that's because you're not setting it up optimally for your room IMO - I am having no such problems. Perhaps if you have a super bright room with lots of natural light shining on the TV screen, it may be a slight issue, but I'm in an apartment that is fairly bright, with the TV facing inwards i.e. windows behind the TV and not facing the screen, and it's perfectly bright enough for me, in fact, when I switch all the lights out, it's too bright sometimes, so I need to lower the brightness. The menu system is a little non-intuitive and fussy, but hopefully future updates will sort this out. Don't expect decent sound from the poxy little built-in speakers. Nobody in their right mind should expect good sound from standard TV speakers, unless they have a sound bar or similar. I've got big powered studio monitors on stands, connected via the headphone out to XLR, and it's booming!! No pass through noise or humming etc. If you've read this far, aside from it's shortcomings around external HDR connectivity, which aren't really acceptable, you'll have guessed that I'm well impressed with the TV, in general, especially for the price! Hope you find this review helpful :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2018 a good year to invest in an Oled C8 PLA the best all rounder Oled in 2018. I have a C6 already and the C8 in two generations take Oled to further accomplishments. It doesn't have the best image processor or claim to have studio master accurate colours but appeals to all needs these days.As an analogy - a super car for Joe public The other post about scratch screen- no it is not true in fact there is a protective screen protector.I got caught our too.
