What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not utterly garbage, but a lot of it. I have bought this all-in-one system a few years back. All this time I have been on and off trying to get it to work the way I would like it to. Let me elaborate. The system right out of the box looks and feels amazing. The build quality is really nice for this price. It plays blu-rays with crisp and nice surround sound. It can be used to stream music from my mobile phone without a hassle. But what I actually wanted to use the system for, using it as a connector for my PC to enjoy movies and games in 5.1 surround, doesn't work. If I hook my pc up to the receiver via HDMI, all I get is 2.1 sound. No surround whatsoever. I tried both hdmi inputs, nothing. I tried connecting to my graphics card in the pc and to the mainboard hdmi connector. According to the manufacturers of both, any should be fine to send 5.1 surround sound. But it only gets picked up as 2.1 by the receiver. Pretty big bummer. Hooking up a USB drive to the receiver works perfectly fine, the same vide files that earlier didn't produce 5.1 sound via HDMI now are perfectly playing on all speakers. I also tried the optical connection. Again, nothing. The receiver recognizes the connection, even starts up when I turn on my pc (thanks to the TV audio setting of the receiver), but playing sound that I explicitly send from the PC via optical cable is a big no-no. Finally, I found a way to stream video files from my pc. Setting this up in Windows 10 is pretty easy, the pc then gets recognized as a media server by the receiver and you can play films that way. With 5.1 sound. Hooray. But without extra subtitles or any of the extra functions that I could use if I were running it from the pc itself. So that function is also not what I'm looking for, gaming with 5.1 still is no option that way. Also, the receiver is pretty prone to getting stuck and weird behavior. Streaming mp3s from my phone to the receiver works, but sometimes songs are skipped halfway through or the streaming just stops, while I haven't even touched my phone that is lying somewhere in the living room. At some points the menu would freeze, switching back and forth between streaming and other input sources is flawed at least.often the only way to get things going again is to restart the receiver. That all said, if the 5.1 sound works, it is amazing for this money. But seeing all the weird stuff going on with it, I can't give more than one star. Bad customer support didn't make things better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good sound ruined by excessive fan noise... Sounds great but the fan noise on the head unit is distracting and requires the volume quite loud to drown it out. Attempted to resolve with LG during warranty period but no solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Earth shatteringly furious sound! With some tweaking of the user EQ and speaker levels, the bass and clarity from the floorstanders and subwoofer was bloody incredible for a budget system. At first sounding very shrill, turning the 60khz level on the user EQ as far up as it would go meant every 230W of bass was felt. The modifications i made to the user eq meant music is utterly brilliant. When it comes to TV and film, simply pressing 'sound effect' on the remote turns the system into cinema mode, with all speakers running. Brilliant that this has smart features as Amazon films are very cheap, and the bluetooth means that my entire music collection can be projected from my PC and even if the song quality is lacking, the power from this system makes it all worthwhile.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Everything you need The sound on this system is very, very good. I'm not using the 3d vision side of it but every dvd I have tried worked fine. Easy enough to set up. Looks smart too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for money An excellent product representing great value for money. My only comment would be that out of the box the unit would not play blu-rays. It played cd's & dvd's without any problem. A software update download soon sorted this. However if you are not savvy enough to realise that a software update could resolve this problem then some users may believe there to be a fault

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Great product as usual from LG, no cutting corners. Apart from the system not being wireless with the speakers you can stream anything from anywhere through your wifi or Bluetooth.
