HGIG helps match HDR game brightness and color to what the game developer intended.
Enable Tone Mapping Compensation while a supported game console is connected and the picture mode is set to Game Optimizer.
If the screen looks too dark with HGIG, compare Tone Mapping On and Off to choose what is most comfortable.

Why HGIG and Tone Mapping Compensation may look different than expected
HGIG is designed to follow the HDR tone and atmosphere intended by game developers.
Because of that, the picture can look darker than when tone mapping is set to On.
Support and behavior can vary by TV model, console, and game title.
1. HGIG can appear darker than tone mapping On
When HGIG is selected, the TV follows the game’s intended HDR output more strictly.
This can reduce the TV’s additional brightening compared to tone mapping On, so the image may look darker.
2. The option may be unavailable due to connection or picture mode
Tone Mapping Compensation is available only when an HDMI cable is connected.
It is also available only when the picture mode is set to Game Optimizer.
3. Compatibility depends on the console and the game
Even with the correct TV settings, HGIG or related tone mapping options may not work if the connected console or the specific game does not support it.
Try these settings to enable HGIG and adjust Tone Mapping Compensation
Connect your game console via HDMI and switch the TV picture mode to Game Optimizer.
Then open Tone Mapping Compensation and select HGIG, or compare On and Off to find the most comfortable image.
If the menu looks different on your model, use the closest matching menu names shown on your TV.
Step 1. Enable Tone Mapping Compensation and select HGIG
Setting: All Settings > General > Game Optimizer > Screen > Tone Mapping Compensation
Connect the supported game console to the TV using an HDMI cable.
Set the picture mode to Game Optimizer.
Open Tone Mapping Compensation and select HGIG.
Step 2. If HGIG looks too dark, compare Tone Mapping On and Off
Setting: All Settings > General > Game Optimizer > Screen > Tone Mapping Compensation
If the image looks darker with HGIG, switch between Tone Mapping On and Off.
Choose the setting that is easiest on your eyes for your room lighting and game content.
Step 3. If the option is missing, confirm the required conditions
Confirm the console is connected by HDMI (not through a non-HDMI connection).
Confirm the picture mode is set to Game Optimizer.
If the option still does not appear, the feature may not be supported by your TV model, console, or the current game title.
FAQ

- Q. Why can’t I find Tone Mapping Compensation or HGIG in the menu?
-
A. The option is available only when a console is connected via HDMI and the picture mode is set to Game Optimizer.
