If the picture looks too bright, too dark, or unnatural, adjust the LG TV Picture Mode and related picture options. You can also reset the picture settings to restore the default values.
Please Note
- Menu names and available picture options can vary by model, software version, and region.
- Some picture features may be limited depending on the input source (Live TV, HDMI, streaming app) and the selected Picture Mode.
- If you reset picture settings, any custom adjustments for the current Picture Mode may be cleared.
Unnatural picture quality on an LG TV can occur for these reasons.
Picture quality can change depending on room lighting, the type of content (movies, sports, games), and features such as Energy Saving. If Picture Mode or advanced picture options are not matched to your environment, the image may look too bright, too dark, or overly sharp.
1. Picture Mode does not match the content or viewing environment
Each Picture Mode is tuned differently. For example, a bright mode may look harsh in a dark room, while a cinema-style mode may look dim in a bright room.
2. Energy Saving or power-related settings reduce screen brightness
If Energy Saving is enabled, the TV may automatically lower screen brightness, which can make the picture look darker than expected.
3. Manual picture adjustments are set too high or too low
Settings such as Backlight, Contrast, and Sharpness can cause eye strain, crushed blacks, or an unnatural image if they are adjusted beyond typical ranges.
Adjust LG TV AI Picture settings using Picture Mode and Picture Mode Settings.
Step 1. Change Picture Mode from Quick Settings
Setting: Remote control > Settings (Quick Settings) > Picture Mode
1) Press the Settings button to open Quick Settings.
2) Select Picture Mode.
3) Choose a mode that matches your content (for example, Movies Cinema for films, Sports for sports, Game for consoles).
4) Exit the menu and re-check the picture.
Step 2. Fine-tune picture options for the selected mode
Setting: Remote control > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode Settings
1) Open All Settings.
2) Go to Picture, then open Picture Mode Settings.
3) Adjust the options you need (for example, Backlight, Contrast, Sharpness).
4) Re-check the picture after each change to avoid over-adjustment.
Step 3. Reset picture settings if the image looks abnormal
Setting: Remote control > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Advanced Settings > Reset
Use Reset if the picture looks strange after adjustments.
After resetting, select your preferred Picture Mode again and make only small changes as needed.
FAQ
- Q. The screen is too bright and hurts my eyes. Can I lower only the brightness?
- A. Yes. Go to Picture Mode Settings and lower Backlight. Backlight reduces the overall screen brightness.
- Q. The screen looks too dark. What should I check first?
- A. Check whether Energy Saving is enabled, then try switching Picture Mode (for example, Standard or Vivid). If needed, increase Backlight in Picture Mode Settings.
