This guide explains how to pair an LG Sound Bar to an LG TV over Bluetooth and how to enable Bluetooth Surround Sound so you can play audio through the sound bar and the TV speakers together (when supported).
Please Note
- Bluetooth audio performance can vary depending on distance and nearby wireless interference.
- If audio cuts out, reduce the distance between the TV and sound bar and remove obstacles.
- Menu names and available options may differ by model, software version, and region.
- If you use HDMI ARC/eARC with SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC), Bluetooth Surround Sound options may be unavailable or disabled.
Bluetooth Surround Sound may not work or pairing may fail in these situations.
Most Bluetooth connection issues occur when the sound bar is not powered on, not set to the correct input mode, or is not discoverable for pairing. Audio dropouts are commonly caused by distance or wireless interference.
1. The sound bar is off or not in Bluetooth pairing mode
If the sound bar is powered off or set to a different input (such as HDMI or Optical), the TV may not find it in the Bluetooth device list.
Set the sound bar input to BT (Bluetooth) or LG TV (wording may vary by model) using the Function (F) button on the sound bar or its remote.
2. Wireless interference or long distance causes audio dropouts
Bluetooth audio can cut out when the TV and sound bar are too far apart or when there is interference from nearby wireless devices (for example, a Wi‑Fi router or microwave oven).
Move the sound bar closer to the TV and reduce obstacles between them.
Pair the LG Sound Bar over Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth Surround Sound on the LG TV
Step 1. Prepare the sound bar for Bluetooth pairing
1) Turn on the LG Sound Bar.
2) Press the Function (F) button on the sound bar or its remote until the display shows BT (Bluetooth) or LG TV (wording may vary).
3) If the sound bar supports a dedicated pairing mode, keep it in pairing-ready state until the TV finishes searching.
Step 2. Pair the sound bar from the LG TV Sound Out menu
Setting: Settings > Sound > Sound Out
1) On the LG TV remote, press Settings and open All Settings.
2) Select Sound, then select Sound Out.
3) Choose the Bluetooth option and open the Device List (or Bluetooth Device List).
4) Wait while the TV searches for nearby Bluetooth devices.
5) Select your LG Sound Bar model name to complete pairing.
6) If the device list does not update, select Search or Refresh (wording may vary) and try again.
Step 3. Enable Bluetooth Surround Sound (sound bar + internal TV speaker) when available
Setting: Settings > Sound > Sound Out
In Sound Out, look for an option such as Bluetooth Surround Sound or Bluetooth Surround Sound + Internal TV Speaker.
Select that option to output audio through both the LG Sound Bar and the TV’s built-in speakers.
If you do not see this option, your TV model or current audio connection method may not support it.
FAQ
- Q. My LG Sound Bar does not appear in the Bluetooth device list. What should I do?
- A. Confirm the sound bar is powered on and set to BT (Bluetooth) or LG TV mode using the Function (F) button. Then return to the TV’s Bluetooth Device List and select Search or Refresh to scan again. If it still does not appear, move the sound bar closer to the TV and try again.
- Q. The sound connects, but it keeps cutting out. How can I fix it?
- A. Reduce the distance between the TV and sound bar and remove obstacles between them. Also move or power off nearby sources of wireless interference (for example, Wi‑Fi routers placed very close to the TV or sound bar). If the issue continues, try pairing again after turning the sound bar off and back on.
