If the picture or sound quality has changed unexpectedly, you can restore the LG TV’s settings to their defaults from the Settings menu. This helps remove unintended adjustments and returns the TV to a known baseline.
Please Note
- Resetting Picture or Sound restores the selected category to default values.
- Any custom adjustments (such as picture mode tweaks or equalizer changes) will be removed.
- Menu names and available options may vary by model, region, and software version.
Picture or sound changes on an LG TV can happen in these situations.
Picture and sound settings may change due to accidental remote input, changes to a Picture Sound Mode, or settings applied by an app or external device. Resetting the relevant category can help if you want to return to default settings.
1. Accidental changes from the remote control
Buttons such as Quick Settings or the Wheel (OK) can open menus where picture or sound options are adjusted unintentionally.
2. Mode changes or device app behavior
Switching Picture Mode or Sound Mode, changing inputs, or using certain apps can result in different processing settings being applied.
Reset picture and sound settings on an LG TV using the Settings menu
Step 1. Reset Picture settings to default
Setting: All Settings > Picture > advanced Settings > Reset
1) Press the Settings button on the remote control.
2) Select All Settings.
3) Open Picture.
4) Select Advanced Settings, then press Reset Screen.
Step 2. Reset Sound settings to default
Setting: Settings > All Settings > Sound > advanced Settings > Reset
1) Press the Settings button on the remote control.
2) Select All Settings.
3) Open Sound.
4) Select Advanced Settings, then press Reset Screen.
Step 3. If the Magic Remote pointer does not appear
If you are using a Magic Remote and the pointer is not visible, shake the remote left and right to make the pointer appear. If it still does not appear, re-register the Magic Remote by pointing it at the TV and pressing Wheel (OK).
FAQ
- Q. Will resetting Picture or Sound delete my apps or channels?
- A. No. Resetting Picture or Sound only restores settings in that category. It does not remove apps, channels, or LG account information.
- Q. Why do picture and sound look different on another HDMI input or app?
- A. Picture and sound processing can vary by input, content type, and app. After resetting, check the Picture Mode and Sound Mode for the specific input or app you are using.
