FAQ

Q.

What types of cookware are compatible with induction?

A.

Only cookware with a magnetic base is compatible. Look for pans labeled “induction-ready” or “IH” marked. Suitable materials include stainless steel (if magnetic), cast iron, and some enameled steel. Cookware must also have a flat bottom and be the right size for the cooking zone.

Q.

Is the cooktop surface hot during use?

A.

Yes, the ceramic surface can become hot due to residual heat transferred from the pan. A hot surface indicator stays on until the surface cools down.

Q.

Can I monitor the cooktop from my phone?

A.

Yes. The cooktop has built-in Wi-Fi and can be monitored using the LG ThinQ® app, which provides status updates and notifications.

Q.

What happens if I forget to turn it off?

A.

The cooktop includes safety shutoff features. If a zone is turned on without cookware or if no power level is selected, it will shut off automatically after a short period. A residual heat indicator also stays lit.

Q.

How loud is the cooling fan?

A.

The cooling fan may be noticeable, especially with heavy use, but this is normal. It may continue to run even after the cooking zones are off, to cool down the unit.

Q.

Is installation included?

A.

No. Installation must be done by a qualified technician and is not included with the product.

Q.

How does induction heat food?

A.

Induction uses magnetic fields to heat the cookware directly, not the cooktop surface. Heat is generated instantly at the base of the pot for fast, efficient cooking.

Q.

Why does my cooktop make a buzzing or clicking sound?

A.

Buzzing and clicking are normal during induction operation, especially with lightweight or empty cookware or when using Boost mode.

What should I do if an error code appears?
Q.

What happens if I use the wrong pan?

A.

If incompatible or improperly sized cookware is used, the cooktop may not detect it and the element will not activate. A compatible magnetic bottom is required.

Q.

Can I use this cooktop if I have a pacemaker?

A.

Persons with a pacemaker or similar medical device should exercise caution using or standing near an

induction unit while it is in operation, as the electromagnetic field may affect the working of the

pacemaker or similar medical device. It would be advisable to consult your doctor or the pacemaker or

medical device manufacturer about your particular situation.

Q.

Does the timer turn off the element?

A.

No. The Timer acts as a simple timer and does not turn off the cooking zone.

Q.

What safety features are built in?

A.

Features include residual heat indicators, automatic shutoff if cookware is not detected, Control Lock, a Pause function, and a fan to manage internal temperature.

Q.

What should I do if an error code appears?

A.

Turn the power off and on again to turn off the error code. If the problem continues, turn the circuit breaker off for 60 seconds and turn it back on. If the problem is not fixed, contact a local LG service center or Customer Information Center.

Q.

Can I install my new LG gas cooktop on my own?

A.

Make sure the cooktop is properly installed and grounded by a qualified installer, according to the installation instructions. Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer, service agency, or the gas supplier. Provide proper clearance between the Cooktop and adjacent combustible surfaces.

Q.

What is an UltraHeat™ burner?

A.

An UltraHeat™ burner is a versatile burner that can rapidly go to high heat to quickly boil, or turn down to a true simmer.

Q.

Does the LG gas cooktop work during a power outage?

A.

While gas is used for cooking, the electronic ignition system requires electrical power to ignite the burners. In case of a power failure, you can light the gas surface burners on the cooktop with a match but should use extreme caution when lighting burners this way. Refer to your owner's manual for model-specific instructions on operating the cooktop during a power outage.

Q.

Can I remove the burner grates for cleaning?

A.

Yes. The burner grates are removable, making it easy to clean both the grates and the cooktop surface. Grates should be cleaned regularly and, of course, after spills. You can wash them in hot, soapy water and rinse with clean water. The grates may also be cleaned in a dishwasher. Ensure all components are completely dry and properly reinstalled before using the cooktop. When replacing the grates, be sure they are positioned properly over the burners.

Q.

How easy to clean  is the cooktop surface?

A.

With LG's EasyClean® Stainless Steel Cooktop Surface, you can erase mealtime mishaps in minutes. You can simply wipe away splatters thanks to the specially coated surface of LG’s EasyClean® stainless steel cooktop.

Q.

Does this model come with auto reignition?

A.

Yes. Auto reignition is a safety feature that automatically reignites the burners if the flame accidently goes out, preventing gas leakage and ensuring uninterrupted cooking. Providing you with safer, uninterrupted cooking.

Q.

Can I simmer delicate foods on an LG gas cooktop?

A.

Yes. LG gas cooktops offer a wide range of heat settings, allowing you to simmer sauces, melt ingredients, and prepare delicate foods with greater precision.

Q.

Can I convert my cooktop from natural gas to propane?

A.

This cooktop leaves the factory set for use with natural gas, but can be converted to be used with propane.  When converting to propane gas, the conversion must be performed by a qualified propane gas installer. The conversion instructions and propane orifices are supplied with the cooktop. Consult the installation manual for complete details.

Q.

How do I clean the glass-ceramic cooktop?

A.

The cooktop should be cleaned after every use to prevent permanent staining.  Clean cooktop with caution. Use ceramic cooktop cleaner on the glass cooktop. Do not use steel-wool pad or abrasive cleaning pads.

Q.

What is the purpose of the hot surface indicator lights?

A.

The hot surface indicator lights stay on after the cooktop is turned off to warn that the surface is still hot enough to cause burns. Do not touch the cooktop until the light turns off.

Q.

What type of cookware is recommended for an electric cooktop?

A.

Cookware should have flat bottoms that make good contact with the entire surface heating element.  LG recommends cookware with flat bottom and straight sides, heavy gauge pans, and cookware that matches the amount of food being prepared.

Q.

How do the smart features and ThinQ® app work?

A.

The LG ThinQ® app lets you monitor your cooktop's status, view cooking settings, and receive notifications from your smartphone. It can also provide firmware updates and, when paired with a compatible LG range hood, automatically turn the vent fan on or off while cooking. Features may vary by model.

Q.

How can I help keep children safe around the cooktop?

A.

Children should be supervised around the cooktop whenever it is in use, and after use until surfaces have cooled. You can also use the Control Lock feature to help prevent children from accidentally turning on the cooktop. The Control Lock feature disables most control panel buttons and the cooktop controls. Consult the "Control Lock" section of your owner’s manual for details.

Q.

Is it normal for the cooking elements to turn on and off while cooking?

A.

Yes. Electric radiant elements cycle on and off to help maintain the selected temperature. This is normal operation and helps provide consistent cooking performance.

Q.

What is the dual zone cooking element?

A.

The dual zone elements offer two different sized elements to accommodate different pan sizes. It is an expandable element that accommodates different cookware sizes for more efficient heating.

Q.

Can I use cast iron cookware on an LG electric cooktop?

A.

Yes, provided the cookware has a smooth, flat bottom. Be very careful when using cast iron pots or pots with rough or damaged bases or have burrs on them. Scratches can occur if they are slid across the surface.

Q.

Can I install an LG electric cooktop over a wall oven?

A.

LG electric cooktops are approved for installation above compatible LG wall ovens. Always refer to the installation guide for your specific models to confirm compatibility and required clearances.
