FAQ

Q.

How long does it take for my LG refrigerator to get cold after installation?

A.

After installation, allow up to 24 hours for the refrigerator to reach its set temperature. Cooling times may vary depending on room temperature, usage, and how much food is placed inside. For best results, wait until the unit has fully stabilized before loading large quantities of food.

Q.

Can I plug in my refrigerator to electrical power immidiately after transporting it on its side?

A.

If the refrigerator was stored for a long period of time or moved on its side, it is necessary for the refrigerator to stand upright for 24 hours before connecting it to power.

Q.

Is it normal for my refrigerator to make noise?

A.

Yes, some sound during operation is normal. You may hear fans, compressors, or ice-making cycles as the refrigerator maintains temperature and produces ice (on models with ice makers). These sounds are part of normal operation and may vary throughout the day.

Q.

How can I adjust the temperature setting on my refrigerator?

A.

Temperature settings can be adjusted using the control panel, which may be located inside the refrigerator or on the door, depending on the model. You can also change the temperature remotely unsing your phone on select models that are also equipped with ThinQ® wifi (you must first download the ThinQ® app to your phone and connect the fridge in order to enable this functionality). LG generally recommends maintaining a refrigerator temperature around 3°C (37°F) and a freezer temperature around -18°C (0°F) for optimal performance. Refer to your owner’s manual for model-specific guidance.

Q.

How much space should I leave around the refrigerator for installation?

A.

Proper clearance is important for airflow and performance. Installation spacing requirements can vary by model. Refer to your owner’s manual for exact clearance specifications. Some LG refrigerators feature Zero Clearance™ hinges on select models, which are designed to allow doors to open fully even in tighter installation spaces.  *For optimal performance, LG recommends 0.16 inches (4 mm) clearance between the sides of the refrigerator and the wall.

Q.

How do I clean and maintain my refrigerator?

A.

For routine cleaning, use a soft cloth with mild detergent and warm water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals. Interior shelves and bins can typically be removed for easier cleaning. Always refer to your owner’s manual for recommended cleaning methods and maintenance guidelines.

Q.

Does my LG refrigerator require manual defrosting?

A.

Most LG refrigerators are equipped with an automatic defrost system, which helps prevent frost buildup and maintains efficient operation. Manual defrosting is typically not required. Refer to your owner’s manual for details specific to your model.
