LG App Store no longer available on Flash-based Smart devices
On screen message now alerting customers the LG APPS is no longer available from their Smart Device, whether Blu-ray player or Home Cinema system.
Up to 2012, Smart Televisions and Smart Devices ONLY supported Flash-based content for all material in motion from the Internet while HTML5 was aggressively making a play with consumer electronics manufacturers to take over. In 2012 HTML5 support got added to Smart TVs & devices gradually gaining ground and soon monopolizing Internet video platforms.
Just a few years back, many video streaming services opted out of their Flash-based content support and began supporting strictly HTML5 material.
In doing so, many Smart TV products from 2012 and all Smart TV products prior to 2012 were eventually denied access to streaming services and Apps on account these products only supported Flash-based content and could not be upgraded to support HTML5 as this would have warranted a very hefty bill.
This being said, we regret to inform you that even LG finally joined the ranks of exclusive HTML5 Internet video support providers. Below herewith listed models will no longer provide access to the LG App Content store while the following message will appear on screen if customer attempts to ENTER.
- BD690, BD670, BD660 Blu-Ray Players
- HB906TA, HB906PA, HB906SB, HX906TX Home Cinema System
