Clearing d80 notification code from display panel
Sometimes, even after having executed due diligence with respect to maintenance of the venting duct conduit by thoroughly cleaning it, the initial “d80” notification still pops up in the display window every time dryer is powered “on”. That specific notification can be disabled if believed to be oversensitive.
The d80 error code indicates that your dryer is detecting a restriction in the venting system — typically due to lint build-up or blocked airflow. It means airflow is reduced by approximately 80%, which can increase drying time and pose a safety risk.
Try this
For effective cleaning, use the following tools:
- Unplug the Dryer for safety.
- Disconnect the Exhaust Hose from the back of the unit.
- Inspect the Hose and Wall Vent for lint or obstructions.
- Use a brush or vacuum to remove any visible lint inside the hose and in the wall duct.
- Go outside and check the vent cap:
- Ensure it opens properly when airflow passes through.
- Clear any blockages or nest material.
- If you have long ducting, use a drill-powered brush to sweep deep inside.
- Reconnect everything, plug the unit back in, and run a test cycle.
Once airflow is restored, the d80 code will clear automatically during the next drying cycle.
If the error persists after thorough cleaning, follow these steps:
- Unplug the dryer for 5 minutes, then plug it back in to reset the system.
- Check for sensor debris or internal blockages.
If cleaning didn’t solve the issue:
- Double-check the entire length of the vent duct, not just the area behind the dryer.
- Inspect the outside flap — it must open and close freely.
- Avoid using plastic or foil ducting; these can restrict airflow and trap lint.
- Contact a professional vent cleaning service if your ducting is long or goes through walls or ceilings.
