How to use “Tag On” feature to connect a smartphone to a TV.
What is "Tag On"?
- This feature is used on smartphones to transmit data in order to share content between smartphones and Smart Televisions simply by placing the NFC-enabled smartphone near the television’s “Tag On” sticker.
- To use “Tag On”, the smartphone and Smart TV must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network or Miracast™/Intel® WiDi must be activated on the Smart TV.
How to set "Tag on"?
- Enable NFC (Near Field Communication) and [Write, read and Write/receive P2P] (if applicable).
- Place phone near the “Tag On” sticker on TV to install “LG TV Tag On” app and “LG TV Remote” app to phone.
- When placed near the “Tag On” sticker on TV once again, authentication number will appear on TV. Enter that number displayed on TV screen in smartphone.
What is NFC (Near Field Communication)?
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a short-range wireless connectivity standard that uses magnetic field induction to enable communication between devices when they're touched together or brought within a few centimeters of each other. It is a type of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) referring to short-range wireless technologies enabling devices to transfer data typically within a distance of 10cm.
Connecting Smart Devices using NFC Tagging on recent models
Near Field Communication (NFC) is a technology that allows you to conveniently send
and receive information without any separate settings. By bringing a smart device near the NFC embedded in the remote control, you can install the LG ThinQ app and connect the device.

Turn on NFC in the settings of the smart device.
To use NFC with Android devices, set the NFC option to enable read/write tags in the settings of the smart device.
The NFC settings may vary depending on the device.

The maximum distance for NFC tagging is about 1 cm (0.39 inches).
Follow the instructions to install the LG ThinQ app on your smart device.
Tag your smart device to the remote control again. You can enjoy the contents of the smart device or connect it to the screen through the LG ThinQ app.
- Some countries do not support LG ThinQ app installation with NFC tags. In this case, download the LG ThinQ app from each app store.
- This feature is available for NFC-enabled smart devices only.
- Depending on the smart device, the NFC location may be different. For more information, refer to the user manual of the device.
- Features connected via NFC may differ depending on the smart device.
- This feature is only available if the remote control has an NFC logo.
