Greater than usual refresh rates to optimize video gaming
Smoother video gaming experiences are provided by increasing the refresh rate, also known as number of images per second, not only from the peripheral’s graphic card but by matching synchronize to the display monitor. The greater the refresh rate, the smoother the visual on screen and much better the experience. Increased refresh rate reduces the tearing and stuttering that occur between a graphic card’s frame rate and a monitor’s refresh rate. With FreeSync or G-SYNC, gamers can experience seamless, fluid movement throughout their video gaming.
For Monitors Supporting AMD FreeSync
- When HDMI Compatibility Mode is on, 2560 x 1440 @ 120/144Hz resolution is not supported.
- Do not attempt to run both FreeSync and 1ms MBR at the same time.
- Disable HDMI Compatibility Mode to take advantage of 1440p @ 1 44Hz
Factory Support Mode
(Preset Mode, HDMI/ DisplayPort PC)
For Monitors Supporting NVIDIA G-SYNC
- The monitor is purposely supporting the NVIDIA G_SYNC technology and targeting NVIDIA GPU.
- Requirement for using G-SYNC
- Supported Interface: DisplayPort (System must support DisplayPort 1.2 directly from the GPU.)
- Supported Graphic Card : A graphic card that supports NVIDIA's G-SYNC is necessary.
- Supported Version : Make sure to update the graphic card to the latest driver.
- For more information and requirement, refer to NVIDIA website at http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/g-sync.
Factory Support Mode
(Preset Mode, HDMI/ DisplayPort PC)
Note
If pushing home-made video content from your smartphone over to the monitor please avoid monitor running any greater than 60Hz refresh rates that are not a multiple of 60 and please disable 1ms Motion Blur Reduction option else, there will be very noticeable flickering appearing on screen.
Smartphone captured video is executed at 30 or 60 fps and, ultimately, best picture reproduction on a large screen panel display other than conventional 60Hz is any multiples of 60 and nothing else. Otherwise, picture quality will suffer greatly.
Screen Tearing
Screen tearing can occur just about at any time, although most prevalent during rapid motion, particularly when a game runs at a higher frame rate than the monitor can handle or when the frame rate changes dramatically and the monitor can’t keep up.
It is most noticeable during fast-paced games whereas vertical image components, such as trees, door entrance or buildings stand out. When it does happen, those lines definitely don’t line up correctly, which in turn destroy the immersive aspect of the moment making a potentially astonishing game look rather cheap.
If you plan enabling G-SYNC on your LG Video Gaming Monitor, ensure the Graphics Processing Unit on your computer SUPPORTS DisplayPort, (at least version 1.2) interface.
Note
The overclock feature can ONLY work though DisplayPort Interface connection.
Please set the monitor’s DisplayPort version to match the version of the connected external device (1.4, 1.2 or 1.1). If you want to use the HDR mode, select DisplayPort version 1.4 on the monitor.
- HDR content may not operate properly depending on Windows10 OS settings. Please check Windows HDR On/Off settings.
- When the HDR function is turned on, on-screen characters or picture may be of poor quality as subjected to Graphic card performance.
- While HDR function is on, screen flickering or cracking may occur when changing the monitor input or powering on/off as subjected to Graphic card performance.
