How to Integrate Your LG TV Into the Apple HomeKit
Apple HomeKit allows you to control smart home devices such as lights, thermostats, door locks, and more — all in one place. You can also connect your LG Smart TV to the Apple Home app, so you can control it using your iPhone, iPad, or Siri voice commands.
Once set up, you can easily power your TV on or off, adjust volume, change inputs, or even include your TV in automated HomeKit “scenes.”
Try this
Before connecting your LG TV to Apple HomeKit, make sure you have:
- An LG Smart TV that supports Apple HomeKit and AirPlay 2
- An iPhone or iPad with the latest version of iOS
- A stable Wi-Fi connection (both devices should be on the same network)
- The Apple Home app installed on your device
Follow the steps below to integrate your LG TV into the Apple HomeKit system.
- Open the Smart Home Dashboard
- Press the Home button on your LG Magic Remote.
- Select the Smart Home Dashboard icon from the main menu.
The Smart Home Dashboard shows all connected smart devices in one place. You can select any device to view or change its settings.
- Go to AirPlay and HomeKit Settings
- In the Smart Home Dashboard, select AirPlay.
- Choose AirPlay and HomeKit Settings.
- Select Set Up HomeKit.
- When prompted, choose HomeKit again.
A QR code will appear on your TV screen. This code will be used to link your TV to the Apple Home app.
- Add Your LG TV to the Apple Home App
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Apple Home app.
- Tap the plus (+) icon, then choose Add Accessory.
- Use your device’s camera to scan the QR code displayed on your LG TV.
- Follow the prompts to finish the setup process.
Once complete, your LG TV will appear in the Apple Home app as a connected accessory.
After setup, you can control your LG TV using Siri voice commands or directly through the Apple Home app.
Using Siri
You can say:
- “Hey Siri, turn on the TV.”
- “Hey Siri, set the living room TV volume to 40%.”
- “Hey Siri, switch input to HDMI 1.”
Using the Apple Home App
From the app, you can:
- Turn your TV on or off
- Adjust volume
- Change inputs
- Add your TV to scenes or automations
HomeKit lets you group devices and set up custom automations.
For example:
- Movie Night: Turns off the lights, closes the blinds, and powers on your LG TV.
- Good Morning: Turns on the TV and sets it to your favorite morning show.
You can activate these scenes with a single tap or Siri voice command.
If you experience connection or setup issues, try the following:
- Make sure your TV and iPhone/iPad are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Check that your TV software is up to date.
- Restart both your TV and your Apple device.
- Try removing the TV from the Apple Home app and adding it again.
