The ideal temperature for the Refrigerator compartment is 3°C (37°F) and for the Freezer compartment it's -18 °C (0°F).
No matter how perfect temperature is set for both refrigerator and freezer compartments there is no accounting for maintaining it as such especially the moment doors get opened and closed frequently.
Same goes for the practice of absentmindedly staring inside the refrigerator for lengthy period of time. Both these practices executed often enough during the course of a day are bound to produce frost buildup inside the refrigerator while giving the impression of weak cooling performance.
Try this
Some models do not feature the Tub Clean option on the Cycle Dial. Look for it as are Extra Function button identified with an asterisk(*) whereas you will need to press & hold the button for at least 3 seconds to activate. For example, model number WM1355H Tub Cleaner option is located with the WATER PLUS option button.
Try This
The temperature control panel is located on the refrigerator door.
Press the Refrigerator or Freezer button once to wake up the display
and view the current temperature settings.
Press the same button again to change the temperature.
Each press adjusts the temperature by 1°C.
When the coldest setting is reached, the temperature will return to the warmest setting and continue
cycling through the available range with each press.
Press the Freezer button to adjust the temperature in the refrigerator compartment -4F is the
minimum recommended temperature setting for normal ice production.
Adjusting Refrigerator Temperature
Press the Refrigerator button to adjust the temperature in the refrigerator compartment.
Temperature Display
To change the temperature display from fahrenheit to celcius or vice versa, simultaneously press and hold
the Freezer and Refrigerator buttons for approximately 5 seconds
Good to Know
Initially set your refrigerator temperature to 37F (3C). Leave it at this setting for 24 hours to
stabilize before making any adjustments.
Keep your freezer temperature setting at no lower than -4F (-20C) for optimal ice-making performance.
When changing the temperature in your refrigerator or freezer do so one increment at a time. Wait for
the temperature to stablilize before adjusting it further
The indicated temperature setting is the target temperature and not the actual temperature inside the
refrigerator or freezer
Note
he displayed temperature is the target temperature and not the actual temperature of the refrigerator. The
actual refrigerator temperature depends on the food inside the refrigerator
Install this the refrigerator in an area where the temperature is between 55F(13C) and 110F(43C). If the
temperature around the refrigerator is too low or high, cooling ability may be adversely affected.
Note :
The design of the control panel, default temperature and temperature range may differ by model.
So, when setting ideal temperature for either compartment, should you accidentally have gone too far down
just press the button the number of times it will take to bring it back up.
Moment you hit coldest temperature setting, the next press of the button will bring it back up to least
coolest temperature for you to start all over
Refrigerator compartment temperature setting ranges from 8°C down to 1°C while
that of the freezer goes from: -13°C down to -21°C on most LG French Door models.
This image and table are simple guides showing the recommended temperature zones inside a
refrigerator and what foods are best stored in each zone.
The chart shows that different foods stay fresher at different
temperatures:
Temperature (°C)
Temperature (°F)
Recommended Use
-18°C
0°F
Freezer – for frozen foods, ice cream, meat for long-term storage
0°C
32°F
Meats – keeps raw meat, poultry, and seafood very cold to slow
bacterial growth
5°C
41°F
Refrigerator – the general storage area for dairy products,
leftovers, drinks, etc.
10°C
50°F
Vegetables – suitable for produce that doesn't require very cold
temperatures
Move left or right to check the contents.
Colder temperatures (-18°C to 0°C) are best for meat and frozen foods.
Around 5°C (41°F) is the standard refrigerator temperature recommended for food safety.
Slightly warmer temperatures (around 10°C / 50°F) can help some fruits and vegetables
avoid cold damage.
Note
Many modern refrigerators keep vegetables in a crisper drawer that is usually between 1°C and 5°C
(34°F–41°F) rather than as warm as 10°C. So this chart is a simplified illustration rather than a strict
rule for every refrigerator model.
Why Food Freezes in the Refrigerator
Your LG refrigerator cools food by circulating cold air through vents inside the compartment. For the
refrigerator to work properly, this air must be able to flow freely throughout the compartment and return
through the air vents.
If the refrigerator is overfilled or items are blocking the vents, cold air can become trapped in certain
areas. This may cause some foods to become too cold and freeze.
To help prevent food from freezing:
Do not overfill the refrigerator.
Ensure that items are not blocking the air vents.
Leave enough space for air to circulate freely around your food.
Proper airflow helps maintain an even temperature and keeps your food fresh without freezing.
To keep the refrigerator and freezer at the right temperature, air must flow between them
Cold air moves down inside the freezer
Air flows from the freezer to the refrigerator through vents
Air circulates inside the refrigerator
Air returns to the freezer through return vents
This continuous airflow keeps both sections evenly cool.
Multi-Flow means powerful and effective cooling operation. This is essentially noticeable when new food is
placed in the refrigerator compartment.
If water or foreign substance (spills) enter the cool air vent while cleaning, efficiency will get lowered.
In addition, if door gasket is damaged (ripped/torn) efficiency may get lowered as well on account of cool
air escaping refrigerator compartment.
DO NOT BLOCK ANY OF THE COOL AIR VENTS with food packages. If the vents are blocked, airflow will be
interrupted while temperature, moisture and frost build-up problems may occur.
Important: Because air circulates between both sections, any odor formed in
one section will transfer to the other. Customers must thoroughly clean both sections to eliminate odors. To
prevent odor transfer and dried out food, wrap or cover food items tightly.
