Refrigerator "CL E" / "CH E" error code displayed on control panel
Either error codes “CL E” or “CH E” appearing in the control panel display indicate there is a possible leak in the sealed system, some restriction in the refrigerant flow, a bad compressor, a defective valve or refrigerator doors have been left opened/ajar way too long.
CL E or E CL error code indicates that there is a low side part refrigerant leak.
CL (Low side cycle leakage) has a high possibility of being refrigerant leakage from the evaporator. Unfortunately, there are no troubleshooting steps for this error code. The unit will require a repair service, please visit our online Request a Repair page (at the bottom of this article).
CH E or E CH error code indicates that there is a high side part refrigerant leak.
CH (High side cycle leakage) has a high possibility of being refrigerant leakage from the condenser. Unfortunately, there are no troubleshooting steps for this error code. The unit will require a repair service, please visit our online Request a Repair page (at the bottom of this article).
Clearing the error
- Open right hand side refrigerator door.
- Keeping door open, press BOTH refrigerator and freezer °T Adjust buttons simultaneously three (3) times in a row.
This will clear the error. However, if the error code persists in returning, the appliance will require the presence of a service technician to repair. LG would recommend user, at this point, run a ThinQ app diagnosis of the refrigerator themselves or by contacting LG Information Center.
Turn the power off (if applicable). Unplug the appliance’s power cord from the wall outlet or trip the breaker OFF for approximately ½ hour then reactivate the breaker or plug the power cord back in and the refrigerator should work fine.
