Cleaning the tub – Why? (Tub Clean cycle)
The moment you have run more than 30 washing cycles, a [tcL] notification will pop up in the control panel display window alerting you it’s time to clean the tub by running a [Tub Clean] cycle.
Overview
Many customers question the reason they should clean their washing machine tub whether a front load, top load, combo, TWINWash™ or Wash Tower. Their purpose is cleaning after all.
Reasoning is really no different than cleaning the ringaround the bathtub after a bath or the grimy stains left behind all over the bathtub or stall after taking a shower.
Dirty water has a greater density than clean water or detergent infused water. The greater density grimy water lags at exiting the drain so it winds up drying up clinging to the enclosure. That film of grime does not wash away with the next laundry load. Instead, it builds up and will eventually be detrimental to the wash if not cleaned in a timely fashion. Proper maintenance of one’s washing machine, just like any other appliance, is key to longevity of the unit and ultimate performance.
LG recommends performing a Tub Clean cycle on a monthly basis.
Note :
- Some models do not feature the Tub Clean option on the Cycle Dial. Look for it as are Extra Function button identified with an asterisk(*) whereas you will need to press & hold the button for at least 3 seconds to activate. For example, model number WM1355H Tub Cleaner option is located with the WATER PLUS option button.
