Further to a software update Youtube app won't launch and cannot be reinstalled
Customers experiencing issues attempting to launch YouTube App on their webOS 4.5 LG Smart TV 2019 model after a recent software update and being unsuccessful may most likely try to reinstall the App to no avail.
Overview
During a Network Software or App update on the webOS 4.5 platform some file issues occurred causing the app to block from being installed or launched. This results in either YouTube App not launching as expected or having disappeared from the launcher bar, generate an error message during reinstallation.
Try this
First thing is to verify the current software version of the television.
- Press Settings button on remote controller
- Click All Settings icon on-screen
- Get to General menu option
- Select About this TV
- Software version should be fist listed item on screen.
- If software version at 04.71.25 or prior, update to latest version.
- If software version at 04.71.30 then reinitialize TV to factory settings.
YouTube Reinstallation Instructions
Before attempting to reinstall the YouTube App, you must remove any App remnants from the launcher bar.
- Click the HOME button on the remote controller to bring up the launcher bar on screen.
- Locate the YouTube App tab.
- Click and hold the tab until it springs upward while an “X” pop-up appears overtop.
- Click the “X” which will delete the tab.
- Launch the LG Content Store.
- Locate the YouTube App then install it. If error persists after reinstallation - reset TV to factory defaults.
When Error Message "Application has not been installed. Try Again" keeps appearing on screen, follow these steps :
- Go to “All Settings” > “General” > “Reset to Initial Settings” and reset TV.
- After TV has been reset, set it up to your preferences then reinstall the YouTube App.
