TV Jack Pack Panel Diagram
This displays the various input and output ports available on the back or side of the television. This diagram helps users identify where to connect external devices such as HDMI cables, USB drives, audio systems, antenna, and other peripherals. Understanding the jack pack layout ensures proper setup and smooth integration with gaming consoles, soundbars, streaming devices, and more.

Component Input 1
For high-definition analog video (Y, Pb, Pr) and audio (L/R). Usually used for older DVD players or game consoles.
-
RS-232C (SVC ONLY)
A "Service Only" port used by technicians for software updates or diagnostics.
-
WIRELESS CONTROL Terminal
A specialized port for connecting an LG wireless media box or proprietary control kits.
-
External Input 1 (AV IN 1)
Standard Composite video (yellow) and Stereo audio (white/red) for older devices like VCRs.
-
LAN Terminal
Ethernet port for a wired internet connection to use smart features.
-
RGB IN (PC)
A VGA port to connect a computer or laptop as a monitor.
-
Audio In (RGB/DVI)
A 3.5mm jack to provide sound when using the VGA or DVI-to-HDMI inputs.
-
Optical Digital Audio Out
Sends digital sound to a Soundbar or Home Theater system.
-
Antenna/Cable In
The coaxial RF input for your TV antenna or basic cable line.
-
External Input 2
A secondary AV input (Video/Voice) located at the bottom.
-
Component Input 2
A secondary high-definition analog video input.
-
Earphone Jack
A 3.5mm output for connecting wired headphones directly to the TV.
-
HDMI/DVI IN (1, 2, 3, 4)
Digital inputs for modern devices (Blu-ray, Gaming Consoles, Streaming sticks).
NotePort 1 usually supports ARC (Audio Return Channel) for soundbars. Port 4 may support eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) for enhanced audio features. Always check your TV's manual for specific port capabilities.
-
USB Input 1 / Time Machine Ready
Used for USB drives or external hard drives to record live TV (on supported models).
-
USB Input 2 / USB APP
Used for playing media files (photos, music, video) or connecting USB accessories.
Signal & Satellite Inputs
- Antenna/Cable In: For connecting a standard over-the-air antenna or cable service.
- Satellite IN (Main/Sub):Ports for satellite dish connections. Some models offer dual tuners (Main and Sub) to allow for recording one channel while watching another.
Digital & Data Connections
- HDMI IN / HDMI IN (ARC): Standard ports for high-definition devices like consoles, laptops, and Blu-ray players. The ARC (Audio Return Channel) port is specifically for sending audio back to a soundbar or receiver using the same HDMI cable.
- USB IN:For connecting external hard drives, flash drives, or peripherals.
- LAN:An Ethernet port for a wired internet connection.
- PCMCIA Card Slot:Used primarily in European models for "Conditional Access Modules" to watch encrypted subscription TV content.
Analog Video & Audio
- Component IN:Uses three video cables (Red, Green, Blue) and two audio cables (Red, White) for high-definition analog signals.
- AV IN:A standard composite connection (Yellow for video, Red/White for audio) for older devices like VCRs or legacy consoles.
These often require a 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter "dongle" as shown by the single-plug connector in the diagram.
Audio Outputs
- Optical Digital Audio Out: For sending high-quality digital audio to a home theater system or soundbar via a fiber-optic cable.
- Audio Out / H/P Out:A 3.5mm jack for connecting headphones or external speakers.
TOSLINK is a standardized optical fiber connector system. Also known generically as optical audio, its most common use is in consumer electronics, where it carries a 5.1ch surround sound digital audio stream from a video source to an external surround sound audio system.
An 8-pin/8-position plug or jack commonly used to connect computers or Smart TV devices to Ethernet-based local area networks (LAN). Two wiring schemes–T568A and T568B–are used to terminate the twisted-pair cable onto the connector interface.
HDMI or “High-Definition Media Input” is the connection norm for modern electronic devices. HDMI ports on your TV are used for both video and audio signal. Also, most current personal computers have HDMI capabilities, so they can be used to hook up the PC to the TV.
Common customer question is if the HDMI-ARC/eARC and the standard HDMI is the same, the quick answer is NO. There are different kinds of HDMI ports on your TV, and they serve different purposes.
Though they look the same, the HDMI-ARC/eARC port is designed to send audio signals back to a soundbar or home theater system, while standard HDMI ports are primarily for sending video and audio signals from a source device to the TV.
Think of it this way:
- Regular HDMI is one-way: from a device to the TV.
- HDMI ARC/eARC is two-way: it still receives video/audio to the TV, but it can also send audio back to an external speaker system—using the same cable.
To spot the difference, look for the label "ARC" or "eARC" next to the HDMI port on your TV. If it’s labeled, it’s an HDMI ARC/eARC port. If not, it’s a standard HDMI port.
USB port is a standard cable connection interface for personal computers and consumer electronics peripherals. USB signifies Universal Serial Bus, which is an industry standard for digital data communications. USB ports allow devices to be connected to each other in order to transfer digital data.

Some customers have questioned the utility of two small square jacks at the back of their LG television set, one YELLOW and one BLACK. The yellow square jack is to accommodate an analog composite audio video signal feed (Yellow-video, Red-left audio channel & White-right audio channel) with the use of an adapter. Said adapter is available from the LG Parts & Accessories portal.
As for the BLACK square jack, it will be either identified as an earphone (H/P) jack, an RS-232C command control input for automation devices or SERVICE ONLY for repair technicians.
It also depends on the compatibility of the stereo receiver or sound system that you are using since there are cases which audio output does not work with other stereo devices.
Some customers have reported being intrigued by some undisclosed accessory packaged with their television set. At some point in time, some LG televisions included an IR blaster along with other TV accessories.
IR Blaster is a device that allows users to control other peripheral devices using infrared communication, such as cable/satellite set-top-box, stereo receivers, or Blu-ray players, with your LG TV remote. It is like a remote extender that can be used to control devices that are not directly connected to the TV, allowing for a more integrated home entertainment experience. Some LG TV models came with an IR Blaster as a packaged accessory, which was designed to enhance the functionality of the TV by allowing it to control other devices in the home theater setup.
This was a short-lived practice and anyone coming across such an accessory today has either purchased a refurbished product or was the recipient of a hand-me-down television. Nothing wrong with that!
Device, upon connection to one’s television, allows users to control other peripheral devices using infrared communication, such as cable/satellite set-top-box, stereo receivers, or Blu-ray players, with your LG TV remote.
- Plug the IR Blaster into the back of the television.
- Position the IR Blaster near the remote sensor of the peripheral device.
- Select the device connector from the settings.
- Test it to confirm it’s working properly.
