No Aspect Ratio Option (greyed out)
This is not an LG TV issue. This is best explained on the Apple website or streaming service provider's.
Please consult the following links (Screen mirroring or Flo Sports app mirroring) for clear instructions on mirroring your iPhone to a television screen and get to use the whole screen.
Whenever streaming video content from Service Providers on your television, you might want to change the Aspect Ratio and realize option is made unavailable as it is greyed out from the TV on-screen menu. Customers connecting their laptop computer to the television will experience the same situation (instructions to fill TV screen from PC content at the end of this article).
Video streaming service providers have made an executive decision with respect to presenting content material in a certain format that cannot be altered.
Classic television programs and movies way back then were presented in Full Screen which meant a 4:3 aspect ratio. Should streaming content service provider have chosen to reintroduce these Vintage materials and opted to crop out top and bottom of the image on screen resulting in a Widescreen (16:9) format and locking it in, the presentation aspect ratio then cannot be altered.
The television cannot simulate, extrapolate or compensate for parts of the video signal that have been removed.
Should you wish to express concerns over such practice, kindly forward your comments to the respective content provider explaining your preference in wishing to keep and view vintage content material in its original format. Service provider may in turn justify their position and explain the rationale as we are certain it was not an easy decision to contemplate.
Now, if the signal source of the device connected to TV is a laptop computer via HDMI, you will also encounter TV aspect ratio option greyed out. Display monitors do not dictate the shape of PC content on the monitor screen. Neither do televisions. PC Windows Display settings does.
Try this
1From your laptop computer, click the Windows button at the bottom left of the screen in the taskbar. Then click on the GEAR icon (Settings) above on the left
2From the Windows Settings page, select SYSTEM
3In the DISPLAY option, try to match video card resolution to that of the TV and if more adjustments to fill the screen are required, use the Scale and Layout option.
Customers experiencing a miniature Live TV view in the top left section of their screen, unable to zoom it back to full screen and having landed here to resolve this issue, have inadvertently or accidentally enabled the Browser mini TV option.
Simply return to the TV Web Browser application and click on the TV button in the top right option bar (if applicable) or the Hamburger icon or Kebob icon to open list of additional feature options to disable mini TV view.
