If you are not a fan of this soap opera effect trend (in-your-face too realistic camcorder video picture texture & feel), especially whenever watching movies, you can easily switch to the dreamier reality escaping imagery as intended by film directors. Then again, some customers have come to appreciate that real world feeling depiction achieved by increasing the number of image frames per second.
TruMotion is a technology that was developed for LCD televisions to alleviate their inherent flaws at depicting images in motion that resulted in blurriness on account of the sluggish panel response time. Whereas LCD panels’ response time is clocked in millisecond, self-emitting OLED panels’ response time is measured in microsecond. OLED renders images in motion at lightning speed.
On the other hand, TruMotion helps tremendously in bringing sheer realism to sporting events or any video source captured by camcorders, professional caliber or not, operating at 60fps (frames per second) as opposed to movie cameras rolling celluloid at 24fps.
Some customers have expressed their preference viewing movies in that sheer realism texture TruMotion provides and that’s perfectly fine. For those individuals, we recommend consulting the more comprehensive TruMotion article addressing details about the various options offered to consumers so they may take full advantage of that feature.
However, if you prefer your movie viewing to emulate a night out at the theatre, make sure the TruMotion feature on your OLED TV is turned “OFF” or, very least, "CINEMA MOTION".
Note
Please be aware! If the video signal at the source was encoded/recorded then transmitted in 120Hz (Motion Compensation Motion Estimation-Interpolation Style) there is absolutely nothing the television can do to attempt correcting the image.
