HDMI ARC connection [television]

The ARC (Audio Return Channel) function on LG TVs allows the TV to send audio from the TV to the HDMI output (TV eARC/ARC) port of the sound bar through the HDMI cable.
Once you connect the sound bar and TV by using the ARC function, you can enjoy high quality sounds vividly from the sound bar.
In addition, using the TV remote controller, you can easily control the power on/off and volume.

ARC-compatible HDMI port

LG TVs with ARC support have at least one HDMI port labeled as "ARC" or "HDMI ARC."
This port is designed to transmit both audio and video signals.

Advantages of selecting HDMI-ARC over Optical Digital Audio connection.

Optical Digital Audio connectivity limits surround sound to 5.1 channels.
HDMI version 2.1 eARC can handle 32 channels of uncompressed audio, or up to 8 channels of 24-bit/192kHz audio.
Optical Digital Audio connection makes no provision for return audio channel. Meaning, the only sound you get is from the television set and not from any peripheral device connected to the TV.

Do you want to connect the sound bar and LG TV by using the ARC function?

➔ Refer to the following instructions when you connect the sound bar and TV.

1. Using the HDMI cable, connect the HDMI output(TV eARC/ARC) port on the rear of the sound bar to the HDMI IN(ARC) or ARC port of TV.
2.Repeatedly press the [F (Function Selection)] button on the sound bar to select the [OPT/HDMI ARC] function in the window display panel.
3. After pressing TV remote controller [Setting] button, select [Advanced Settings] > [Sound] in the main setting menu. In the [Sound Output] menu list, select [HDMI ARC]. Pending webOS version, on-screen display menu look may differ.
Once TV and the sound bar are connected, the display of the sound bar will show [ARC] or [E-ARC].
