Start button no longer working – Unresponsive buttons
This video tutorial addresses issues you may be experiencing with the START/PAUSE (
) button no longer working or simply not responding on your LG top load washer or any situations arising from having inadvertently / accidentally enabled the CONTROL LOCK function.
Powers On/ Won't Start
Very Important
NEW washing machines require that you PRESS & HOLD the START button for at least 1 second for the cycle to begin. Simply brushing the START button and releasing it immediately will FAIL to engage wash cycle. PRESS & HOLD the START BUTTON for 1 second.
Note
This video content, despite featuring a top load washing machine, is intended for ALL TYPES of laundry appliances including front load washers, dryers, all-in-one washer/dryer combination, pedestal washers, Wash Towers and heat pump condenser dryers.
Should the washing machine show signs of life (lights on) but will not start up, please consult our video tutorial addressing that issue.
Should it be determined that the wall AC outlet is providing current, the washing machine's power cord is properly inserted, the circuit breaker has not been tripped or fuse blown and there is still no power when attempting to power "on" the appliance, then please contact LG Customer Information Center for further assistance in deploying a certified service technician for in-home inspection.
Most common issues can be resolved with troubleshooting however in some cases a qualified technician may be required. If our trouble shooting helped, please fill out the feedback survey provided here. If you do require in-home service, we would love to hear about your experience after the repair is completed. Filling out this Help Library article feedback is unnecessary. A separate feedback survey will be sent to let us know how it went.
