Freezer Compartment Thawing (not cold enough)
Some customers have reported concerns over the freezer compartment or drawer of their refrigerator not being cold enough. This article addresses possible root causes resulting in freezer not maintaining its frigid cold air.
- Door / drawer left slightly ajar
- Food items blocking air vent
- Damaged door seal gasket
- Temperature setting too high (too warm)
- Doors being opened & closed too long and too frequently
- Recent installation
- Refrigerator operating in demo mode
- No power
Door / drawer left slightly ajar
Some customers reported having found a food item that fell behind the freezer drawer preventing it from fully closing. Frigid air will escape the freezer compartment at any given chance while being replaced by ambient room air seeping inside the freezer. This will cause the temperature to rise even above freezing point often resulting in frozen items to begin thawing or melting. Ensure the door or drawer closes completely and no warm room air gets inside the freezer compartment..
Food items blocking air vent
Some customers have this bad habit of loading too many items in the freezer to the point of blocking the air vent. If the very cold air from the compressor is prevented access to the freezer compartment, inevitably the food inside will start to thaw or melt. Make sure the air vent at the rear if clear of any obstruction and there is ample space inside for the cold air to circulate in order to maintain items in frozen state.
Damaged door seal gasket
Similar situation to door/drawer left ajar scenario will produce the same undesirable results. Open the freezer door and inspect sealing gasket for rupture or any damage, foreign substance preventing door to shut tight or weak stickiness (flattened gasket). Try cleaning the gasket or forcing it back to original shape & form. If the gasket is simply worn out, you will require a repair service from a qualified technician.

Freezer compartment temperature set too high
Try to maintain freezer temperature setting as low as deemed possible while avoiding freezer burn. If you find yourself opening and closing the freezer day very often, lower the temperature settings by a few degrees.
Door being opened & closed too long and too often
Similar situation to door/drawer left ajar scenario will produce the same undesirable results. Try not to keep the door open too long staring inside freezer compartment at what might tempt your appetite.
Recent installation
Please be patient as it may take up to 24 hours for each compartment to reach the desired temperature.
Demo mode activated
Display Mode allows the lights and panel control display to work normally while disabling cooling to save energy while on the retail showroom floor. Refer to the Setting the Controls section in your owner manual for model specific instructions on how to disable Display Mode.
No power
A fuse in your home may be blown or the circuit breaker tripped. Or the appliance is connected to an AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet, and the outlet's circuit breaker has tripped.
Check the main electrical box and replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. Do not increase fuse capacity. If the problem is a circuit overload, have it corrected by a qualified electrician. Reset the circuit breaker on the AFCI. If the problem persists, contact an electrician. There have been known issues involving oversensitive (defective) AFCI devices.
Finally, if there is cool air inside the refrigerator compartment but you feel freezer temperature inadequate. then your issue of is one of the aforementioned reasons. No point seeking the services of a qualified repair technician unless prescribed.
If you notice inadequate temperature in both compartment to the point of absolutely not cooling and refrigerator demo mode deactivated, then we have to conclude you are experiencing a defective compressor that will be requiring a repair service.
if your refrigerator has gone past initial warranty period, yet the compressor is still within the extended 10-year period, repair will qualify under “Past 1st Year Warranty” whereas a cost for labour will apply but none for the compressor should it need be replaced.
