Our Journey: Major Milestones and Achievements

2003-2012
Foundation and early innovations

Our journey in automotive products and solutions began in the early 2000s within the home appliance business unit, initially supplying car radios to automakers. However, a significant turning point came in 2013 with the establishment of the Vehicle component Solutions (VS) Business Division, marking our focused efforts to nurture the automotive business as a new growth engine. Particularly in 2008, we successfully proposed a pioneering development project to a major automaker, showcasing LG Group's capabilities to the world.

2013-2015
Establishment of VS Company

With robust investment from LG Group and LG Electronics, the VS Business Division was officially established, enhancing our global presence among automakers. We expanded our regional networks by establishing North American and European regional headquarters to provide on-site support, firmly establishing our global footprint in the automotive industry.

2016-2017
Strategic Expansion

Our reach extended into major car markets, including Asia, with the creation of a production subsidiary in China and an office in Japan, enhancing our global footprint and diversifying our product offerings.

2018-2020
Consolidation and Growth

As our operations matured and stabilized, we enhanced our capabilities necessary for business. Notably, in 2018, we acquired the vehicle lighting company ZKW Group to strengthen our Lamp business, a move that bolstered our global market influence. By 2020, our sales had shown noticeable growth, fueled by the expansion into the E-powertrain business and establishing a solid reputation among global automakers. This allowed us to showcase more of our research and development products in the market.

2021-present
Leadership in Global Market

In pursuit of further expansion, we established LG Magna e-Powertrain in 2021, a joint venture with Canada’s Magna International, ranked third globally in auto parts manufacturing, to produce electric vehicle powertrains. The same year, we acquired Cybellum to enhance our cybersecurity business in response to the rapid electrification trend in the automotive market. Despite the global COVID-19 pandemic, our proactive and immediate responses helped defend our customers' operations, earning widespread recognition. Today, celebrating our 10th anniversary, we continue to collaborate with top global automakers, leading the in-vehicle infotainment market as a successful Top Tier-1 supplier.
